The East is a joke. Vandy might win the whole thing next year and I hope they do

Don't be such a bitch. The East will be way up next year. Also for the Gator and Tenn fans who are saying we will be down, y'all are basically betting that we will get a bad recruiting class.
If we hire Smart(which it looks like we will) we won't lose but maybe a couple of recruits. Those will be offset by the new ones the new staff brings in. If we retain Pruitt, bring in a good OC and Eason stays, y'all better watch out.

No, we are betting on what generally happens to a team going through a head coach and staff change.

Lots of big ifs.

So If Eason does stay does he start as a true freshman?

So, you made it to the Mizxou game this year. Sweet

There will be 3 at least pretty good teams in the East next year, as there were this year, and odds are, at least 1 of the other 4 will stop being total crap.

With UFs QB situation an unknown again as well as losing Hargreaves and Bullard, and Richt leaving, I don't think there's any doubt that it will be Tennessee's to lose.
They will never win the East with Butch if it doesn't happen next season.
That should be how it is but with our luck against UF, I just don't know and certainly can't count on it. Next year will be the first time in a LONG TIME that we may actually have equal talent to what UF fields. It might've been this year if you count guys who weren't playing.

We had at least close to equal talent the past 2 years, and were in prime position to take both games.

No this season was the first we were close to equal talent. One good recruiting class (CBJ's first class was a salvage job nowhere close to his second class) doesn't compete with UF's years of great ones or that number 1 class they had. That said, I agree with you that we were in position to win both but the first time was because Muschamp was horrible coach not because our talent was there - we were wayyy behind the eight ball (remember that OLINE? The entire DL was rebuilt that year too but folks forgot about that because the OL was sooooo bad and the DL played way above their talent).
Also add in our attrition levels that were so bad we almost got bowl banned and we were worse off than we were on paper and on paper we were far from great.

East will be down. Hell Florida could win it

UT will be the clear favorite next year IMO, but they also have Butch Jones as their HC.
After that, everyone has a ton of questions

If we don't hire someone before Mark Richt gets hired, you can kiss Eason goodbye.
If we don't retain Pruitt, our current defensive players may rejuvenate the early year suspensions for us that have settled over the last few years.
If we hire a spread offensive coach, then all of our TE's become irrelevant. Nick Chubb won't be Nick Chubb.
McGarity sucks
