You're right. Here's a better plan: we plant some really nice trees and make sure they grow big and tall, so that there will be plenty of concealed places when you play a nice game of Hide and Go frick Yourself.

The old guard at Texas are all now retired including Deloss Dodds.

Dodds always had to have things go all-Texas or nothing. He's out.

New guy is Steve Patterson. This guy has completely over-hauled the old program and may be open to conference realignment.

If he is they are going to the PAC. Patterson is like best buds with Larry Scott.

First Charlie needs to win some games or he and Patterson will be out of a job. Patterson has wasted all his initial political capital being a dick to almost everyone.

You hit the nail on the head. Im still on the fence about strong, but i also know mack had left him with almost nothing the past 4 years in recruiting in key spots. OL, QB etc. Its also a damn shame who mack told that they werent good enough to play here. Im gonna give charlie this year. But if we dont win 10+ in 2016, he needs to be on the hot seat

Too many obstacles:

1. TAMU, Arkansas and Missouri would be against the move and probably a few others.

2. The BDF wouldn't allow them to leave

3. Getting out of the LHN contract would be difficult at best plus ESPN doesn't gain anything from nullifying the contract and adding another team to the SECN

All of these points have already been stated, I know, but one other that many of our SEC brethren don't understand.

tu would never allow a scenario that makes it look like they approached the SEC with hat in hand asking for inclusion. You folks just don't understand how engrained arrogance is in their culture. They will do everything in their power to make it appear as though the SEC begged them to come over. Then, they will try to establish themselves as the pre-eminent school and use PR and marketing tricks to try to bully anyone into doing things their way. You don't want any part of this school, trust me. Arkansas and Missouri fans know all too well how they conduct themselves. They do not have an attitude that is conducive to conference membership and are better served just being an independent so that they can make their own rules. They are a bully.

So true. The OU president bitched about expansion and the LHN in public for a reason. Behind closed doors and in Big 12 meetings they must be hitting a burnt orange stone wall. Boren is hoping getting the public involved will give them leverage vs Texas. If it does or doesn't either way the fact he feels bitching in public is the best option is telling.

If I look a traditional Aggie Indicators then I would expect a good season. The schedule is easier than normal and outside expectations are low, which is usually the combo that enables A&M to do its best. Our big problems last year were OL play and WR play, and we upgraded both of those coaches. I expect our offense to be pretty spectacular.

But this optimism is tempered by a reality that Chavis probably isn't going to overhaul the defense overnight. It will take more than a few games, maybe the season, to internalize the new attitude and our first game is against a top 20 team last year. The momentum could quickly go against us.

Right now I would say around 8 wins with hope for more. Really though who we beat matters more than just our win total because for the first time in the Sumlin era our recruiting needs some key victories to pull in a good class. I want to say next year is the year but the honest truth is Sumlin has a lot riding on this year. We have a bad season and end up with a barely top 20 class and he is probably toast after 2016 unless we win 10 games.

Sumlin is guaranteed a 2016 season because of a huge buyout. We have a disappointing 2016 (starting with NSD) and Chad Morris is our coach by 2017.

I think you just scratched the surface. It's hard to explain how far they'd go, because most here wouldn't believe you.

Texas A&M left the Big 12 because the Longhorn leadership lied to A&M President Bowen Loftin over and over.

Bowen Loftin got tired of the constant lies and decided to associate with a more reputable conference.

The Longhorns can enjoy rolling around in the heap of crap they created. I don't blame ou for wanting out, but they have a siamese twin and nobody wants them.

About the only other possibility making any sense would be an even bigger expansion to 18, taking Bevo-Ou-NC-VT and having 3 six team divisions.

Even then, Texas doesn't add any additional markets. I would prefer West VA over Texas. Of course, soon the term "SEC" wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Go over to Orangebloods and spend 30 minutes on their site and it will open your eyes. They are currently discussing if they should go ahead and tell the SEC they will join. Have they been invited? No but they are Texas so of course they decide their own future. They are even putting together pods. It is a done deal in their minds.

Amazingly they have learned nothing thru this reallignment process. Their arrogance has only gotten worse.

The largest ratings in Texas on some games last year for A&M came from Austin.

I know this gets that aggie dick rock-hard, but I don't think this means what you think it means.

Birmingham, Columbus and Austin tend to pull in college football viewers. Period.

quote:

Top 10 Metered Markets for ESPN Saturday Games

Detroit, with a 13.9 metered market rating, and Columbus, averaging a 10.3, were the top two markets for ESPN’s Michigan at Penn State telecast. Dayton was third with a 5.9 rating followed by Philadelphia (4.4), Pittsburgh (4.3), Cleveland (4.3), Austin (3.9), Birmingham (3.9), Norfolk (3.7) and Indianapolis (3.7).

Birmingham was the leading market for ESPN’s coverage of Texas A&M at Ole Miss, averaging a 13.9 rating. Memphis was second with a 12.1 rating followed by Austin (12.0), San Antonio (9.2), Houston (7.7), New Orleans (7.7), Dallas-Fort Worth (7.7), Knoxville (7.5), Greenville (7.1) and Columbus (6.9).

I guess this means that Birmingham is obsessed with aggies, and both Austin and Birmingham are obsessed with Michigan and Penn St.

Amirite?
