Texas A&M is the (sort of) new king of the SEC when it comes to athletic apparel deals. The university signed a giant deal with Adidas in February that ranks No. 1 in the conference and among the top in collegiate sports.

The university will get $7.1 million in benefits from the deal in the upcoming academic year, including $1.7 million in cash and $4.5 million in equipment and apparel. (Adidas values equipment and apparel at wholesale prices, which is roughly 50 percent of retail. The Business Journal reports retail values.)

The university also will get $200,000 in "retail activation" and $450,000 in marketing support. It's also guaranteed at least $333,000 in royalties.

The deal ranks No. 3 among the contracts in the Business Journal's database of public universities, behind the University of Michigan ($8.2 million) and UCLA ($7.5 million). The calculations for the Michigan and UCLA contracts, both with Adidas, do not include royalties.

While I don't think the #3 ranking is still 100% accurate, it is still one of the highest in the nation.

Yea,but its still Adidas and their uniform designs still suck...who exactly do have left? MSU?

Sounds like they're getting desperate and will take whatever skin in the game they can take.

Nike took over as Tennessee's main apparel provider Wednesday as part of an eight-year contract worth about $35 million in money and gear.

A&M's deal is 7 years, ~50 M.

Who's the fricktard?

Oh and we buy adidas @ wholesale while you pay retail for Nike so the gap is actually much larger.

Its so much better that the difference in the deals is about what it costs to build a new baseball stadium.
