The fact: They didn't.

Bama ran the ball 25 times in the first half for 98 yards (3.92) and 19 times in the second half for 70 yards. (3.7) Alabama threw the ball 15 times in the first half and 16 in the second half. Ole Miss made an adjustment and the runs to the left were less effective for Bama. Keep in mind that the last Alabama drive was nothing but passes since they had a minute to drive for a touchdown.

Also one our backs snapped his leg and 2 of our linemen got hurt including our veteran center who gave way to a first time freshman.

Going by the numbers presented, your argument doesn't work. The yards per carry were fairly consistent throughout the game. Only on one drive though did it carry the offense all the way to the end zone. Eventually an offense has to make a big play, and that's one thing the Ole Miss defense doesn't allow.

I said it before the game and it held true: Henry was too big and slow for OM's quick defense. I would have given him little to no carries in the game, and given Yeldon and Drake a lot of carries. Of course, Drake got injured so that idea was out of the window. I still would have given Yeldon all of the carries that Henry got.

Ole Miss players kicking Drake's leg and breaking it was what caused Alabama to lose.

Plus the refs favoring Ole Miss.

Because Ole Miss is weak against the run.

Love me that home cooking against Bama. Warms my heart like hot chicken noodle soup on a cold December afternoon in the delta.

The loss of Ryan Kelly at center did create issues in the run game in the second half. I'd be a lot more interested in seeing the breakdown of ypc before and after he left the game. That being said, OM did bring successful run blitzes after the two long drives where Alabama moved the ball well.

I'm not sure why this is being talked about though. Was a very evenly matched game in most ways where Ole Miss made the plays to win the game.

Why can't the SECR just admit our D is the GOAT.

Nobody is saying it is why Ole Miss won the game, but Kelly getting hurt was a huge deal. You can call sour grapes or whatever you want, but first time QB on the road against an elite D going from veteran center to freshman stepping on the field for the first time was a giant drop off.

Either way Ole Miss adjusted and we couldn't get going.

I remember when there was a certain fan base (Alabama) rediculing another fanbase (Texas) for making excuses for losing a game because of an injury (McCoy). Oh how the tables have turned.

This line has been repeated ad nauseum across multiple fanbases.

Clearly these two instances are the only times a team has partially blamed a loss on injuries.

Good post. OM's defense is legit and made it hard. Plus the biggest game in OM history so their players balled.

Good game though.
