While I'm not sure how the impact of not playing 11/19 at home would hurt us, it just seems like people have straight up ignored the actual tragedy that happened in Baton Rouge not two months previous. I still have friends, family, and co-workers that are still dealing with personal loss and damages suffered due to flooding and have no qualms with anybody feeling reluctant to give up anything that provides an economic benefit to this town.

I spent time tearing down dozens of houses and have seen people stare at what was once part of their lives completely destroyed. Though we've gone a long way since then there are still so many people waiting on some sort of compensation or assistance. Despite all of this, it is something I still haven't seen brought up too terribly much.

If it has and I just haven't seen it, then I apologize for retreading material that has already been discussed. If not, then out of respect for many individuals, please consider this when you talk about rescheduling the UF/LSU game.

I mean, I get all of this and everything. But isn't asking UF to play in Baton Rouge the same type of thing after Hurricane Matthew's damage on Gainesville. I know losing a home game in Baton Rouge hits harder for you, but also try and put yourself in the perspective of a UF fan.

You bring up a fair point here, so I'm going to try and address it in a fair way.

First, not all solutions to this mess involve UF losing a home game. If anything, most of them don't.

Secondly, without trying to sound insensitive, the damage suffered in Gainesville compared to what was suffered in Baton Rouge isn't even comparable.

The most I could find was that Hurricane Matthew knocked out the power in 3,500 residential homes. How does that translate to cost? I'm not sure. I do know that the August flooding lead to a estimated cost of 8.7 billion dollars in damage.

I would be happy if this game can be played in Gainesville, but I'm not in favor of LSU not getting to play a home game for the reasons stated above. Though I can appreciate the humor of "Lolz, frick them" attitude that the trolls on here seem to endorse.

And it will be, Nov. 19th. Nobody forgot the floods that happened to Louisiana. But this is about getting an SEC game played to correctly balance the standings. This is important to residents of both states.

With the risk of sounding like an insensitive prick, let's not forget LSU got an extra home game just last year because of the flooding in SC.

It sucks, but shite happens.

Well, I'm glad that making sure the standings are balanced right are what's most important here. Forget finding a solution that best benefits all that are involved.

I remember that well, and shite does indeed happen. We made every possible attempt to offer assistance and welcome to the South Carolina fans (also the team) when they came.

But if there's a chance for everyone to benefit, wouldn't that work best?

LSU got royally screwed this weekend.

If the game isn't made up, most probably LSU has to win out and Bama lose 2 for LSU to have a shot at Atlanta.

The SEC is supposed to be about fair competition, and the SEC Commissioner has got to show leadership and get this fixed!

look Im a realist LSU fan and I know damn well LSU isnt going to win out with an interim coach who trying to chnge the offense mid season. Therefor I really dont care if this game if made up and Tenn gets screwed. That is a problem to blame on the SEC commish and the University of Florida.

LSU isnt going to lose a home game which is Senior night and the last recruiting weekend for them during the season. Get real people ... why should LSU lose a home game bc UF is ran by a bunch of cowards who cant figure out how to schedule a football game during a hurricane.

No sympathy ... UF were cowards and Sankey is a weak commissioner.

See this is what I don't agree with. The point of this thread was to evoke a degree of empathy. Calling people cowards doesn't solve anything.

I do feel for those who were effected in Florida because I feel for those close to me who were affected. I simply don't understand why this has to be them or us.

I'm in favor of October 29th, but god forbid anyone that has to change their hotel reservations for the cocktail party.

It's very simple. Play in Gainesville on 11/19 or stfu. Really not more complicated than that. Take it or leave it.

Your point was already made clear above? What's the point of being redundant?

Leave it. I hope this game doesn't get played and somebody gets screwed over at the end of the season because of it.

The SEC needs to learn from this and have a contingency. The game could have and should have been played using any of the following scenarios.
1) play at a neutral Site. The logistics could have been worked to play at an SEC school or Nashville, Atlanta, etc
2) the game could have been played on Sunday
3) the game could have been played on Saturday

What makes LSU fans think this game is a given win?
I'm gonna LMAO if the game is played and Fla. wins.

This, no reason for every SEC team to not have a quickly executable back-up plan. Should be one of if not the major topic in Destin next year.
Another thought going forward, in future years move the SEC championship back a weekend and have that open date reserved for possible make up games.

The one thing I haven't seen discussed on here is that LSU isn't the only program that will be losing a home game. Florida loses one too, because if the game is made up on 11/19, Florida can't play Presbyterian that day - and the game won't be made up.

LSU goes from having 12 total regular season games with 7 home games to 11 total games with 6 at home, as does Florida. LSU will need to issue refunds for tickets for the USA game, Florida will have to refund ticket cost/donations for a game as well.

Is it ideal, no? But it is the simplest solution and would be the easiest logistically to implement. Also, if you play on 11/19, you are the marquee game that week and would get the 3:30 CBS slot.
