The Playoff committee essentially uses the old BCS System for their rankings

From Brad Edwards:
Looks like they swap a couple teams up here and there to keep that criticism at bay. I'm fine with it. There was nothing wrong with the newest version of the BCS system.

Damn you, committee. Could have gotten Oregon in the first round in 2014 and pounded them. No way we wouldn't have been focused in the championship game against tOSU

Those are pretty substantial changes. In two years, the BCS title game would have differed from the Playoff title game.

I find it extremely hilarious that the B1G got a team in thats not even their champion....of course that could have easily been the SEC this year had LSU found a way to score 2 TDs against Bama.

And an extra TD against either Auburn or Florida

Yes but they made that very important gesture of putting Ohio State 3 as if we didnt all see that was a bitch move to appease some person who couldnt tell
If Ohio State was in they were the 2nd best team. If they werent 2 they shouldnt have been in
Its splitting hairs but yeah

I liked the old BCS formula, but go to 4 team playoff.

What do Ezekiel Elliott & Forrest Gump have in common?
They both ran all over Alabama

The BCS was mostly based on the polls and the committee is made of people just like the polls were, it's not surprising they are mostly the same.
The BCS poll was fine, the committee's rankings are fine.

This is essentially what we have now, thus far the top 4 teams are the same, just with seeding differences.

Perhaps, but we might get another shot at them this year. I suspect Clemson will beat them, but should Clemson stumble, and Bama prevail over UW, then we got something for tOSU's punk arse. It will be just that much sweeter, like the 09 SEC Championship sweet. In fact this one may even be sweeter.

I think the lesson here isn't about the committee but about the BCS formula. That is, the BCS used so many different factors and carefully-weighted input that it essentially reflected what a purely human committee dedicating their resources to the single goal of ranking teams would come up with.
I'd like to see the correlation between the two for the whole top 25, though. Top four to six are pretty easy. It's when you start juggling lots of second-tier (relative to the top, not in general) teams that things get messy.
