The Nutt lawsuit has gotten me to reconsider the competence of AU's AD

Like most knowledgeable Boogs, I was pissed off when AU paid Tuberville 5 large after he "resigned", and held Jay Jacob's, our buffoon of an AD, completely responsible for bending over the table in negotiations.

I now believe JJ acted brilliantly. He removed an expensive HC who was absurdly loyal to his crew of mediocre assistants, lazy and lackadaisacal on the recruiting front, and clearly uninterested in competing with Saban at Bama. He did so on terms that the former HC found agreeable, so much so that he wouldn't expose any skeletons in future years (in fact, he's still on friendly relations with the school).

Contrast this with how Ole Miss handled Nutt since his ouster in 2011, and how playing hardball with him back then is playing out now.

Which strategy was better for the program long term? I think the answer is apparent.

Yea, we paid Nutt to leave even though it was supposedly his decision. Best money ever spent in this light...

The whole Razorback fan base was livid about the 3 mil Nutt received, but in hindsight, after the past few years, it was a discount.

this is completely insane. unless, of course the "skeletons" you refer to are really some bad shite. nevertheless, I refuse to call someone brilliant because he bribed a failure at the HC position.

Unless of course there is a lingering SEC death penalty because somebody failed to do that?

Kept us out of trouble for going on 25 years. Money well spent.

Yall have had, what, 4 major NCAA infractions cases since then? It will be interesting to see what happens when Saban isn't around to keep a lid on your boosters...

So you admit the 6 years of Auburn dominance were at the expense of a weak Alabama with incompetent leadership? Thanks been waiting on that one a while now.

No doubt but programs change and people sometimes learn that it is more prudent to let the staff do the recruiting.

I think y'all would've been fine as long as y'all didn't blame the Cam shite on him

Apparently you haven't been paying attention for the past decade. Virtually all AU folks have acknowledged this since at least 2011.

I bet admitting that incompetent leadership is still in positions of power at Bama, giving themselves far too much credit for hiring Saban (and smugly reassuring themselves that they'll hire someone "just as good" when he eventually retires), probably isn't even on your radar.

a failure at the HC position.

I mean he has more SEC titles than LSU's current HC, no? He was pretty successful in his stint at AU.
But to the OP, yes. Wise decision, as I am sure skeletons are buried in his pine box from Oxford,MS.

True, but some of the people in this population are doing it and will continue to do it out of an inflated sense of self worth and status. The effect on the school, positive or negative, is merely a byproduct of their selfish, ego stroking actions.

Nutt's lawsuit should get dismissed. I don't see us paying him another $. Per our AD don't think his severance had a non-disparagement clause in it.
