The more that changes, the more that stays the same - Ole Miss-Arky 2001

The last time the Ole Miss Black Rebels beat Alabama and LSU in the same season was 2001, with future 2-time super bowl champion Eli Manning at the helm. In 2001, like 14 years later in 2015, the University of Arkansas Razorback Hogs crushed Mississippi's hopes for an SEC West title in an improbable and frankly miraculous fashion. We all know about the famous 4th and 25, but how many remember the epic and record crushing 7-OT victory the Hogs took from Ole Mississippi that afternoon in 2001 to seal the Rebels fate as perennial also-ran yet again?

You kinda' suck at drawing historical football linkage - but I wouldn't let that stop me - and apparently, you wouldn't either.

You kinda suck at reading, but I wouldn't expect any less from a fan of the school that requires a 1.5 GPA and a 14 on the ACT for automatic admission

The SEC mystique is because of the history

I remember it. The fall of 9/11, anthrax attacks, and Matt Jones.

We went 7-4 in 2001 and didn't even get a bowl bid. I would say slightly different.

The Black Rebels imploded after the Arky loss, losing 3 straight including a loss to Mississippi State. Had they won that Saturday, the SEC West almost surely would have been won. (Remember, a 3 loss LSU won the West that year)

Why don't you bother to check your facts. No public university in ms has those standards

Since we're bringing up shite why don't you explain how a lsu football player who went to nfl scored 11 on the wonderlic test . How the frick did he get admitted to lsu

Ole Miss has such low admission standards, I don't know why you didn't just post the actual numbers instead of spouting out lies.

Living vicariously through Arkansas? No not really, just musing on the rich history of the SEC. When was the last time MSU beat LSU and Bama in a single season btw? Answer: 1980, the first and ONLY time it has ever happened in the modern era.

I believe our state law requires a 16. Most LSU players would qualify.

Matt Jones was Johnny football before Johhny football. My all time favorite Hog. Dude was a walking highlight reel. Just had a "I don't give a shite" attitude to go along with it tho.

Should link some MJ dunks with the basketball team. Most on here probably don't know dude was solid on the court also.

Another interesting fact is that Ole Miss beat Alabama and LSU, finishing 7-4, and did not get a bowl invite.

edit: Emanonion covered this already.

Thread is incomplete without highlight real

LINK

The crazy part about MJ is he never looked fast, but he was fast. He had such long strides that it looks like he's jogging but somehow blowing through the defense.
