The White-Slave Traffic Act, or the Mann Act, is a United States federal law, passed June 25, 1910 (ch. 395, 36 Stat. 825; codified as amended at 18 U.S.C. §§ 2421–2424).

It is named after Congressman James Robert Mann of Illinois, and in its original form made it a felony to engage in interstate or foreign commerce transport of "any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose". Its primary stated intent was to address prostitution, immorality, and human trafficking, particularly where trafficking was for the purposes of prostitution. This is one of several acts of protective legislation aimed at moral reform during the progressive era. In practice, its ambiguous language about "immorality" has resulted in its being used to criminalize even consensual sexual behavior between adults.[1] It was amended by Congress in 1978 and again in 1986 to apply to transport for the purpose of prostitution or illegal sexual acts.[2]

Damn..no breaks are to be had in Oxford. Colonel Reb is not just crying..he has the hiccup sobs.

Unless Freeze was traveling back and forth with these girls, I don't see how it would apply.

Is that what you're implying?

If for instance you had recruits coming in for a recruiting weekend, and if for instance you wanted to be sure they had someone that was "into them" for the weekend, and if you had a large city close to you, albeit across a state line, and you paid and transported females from this city in for the recruiting weekend for the sole purpose of being with 17-18 year old young men in hopes to sway their decision to attend your university .....you might just find yourself being charged with a felony or multiple felonies depending on what can be proven. It would probably take one of the young females talking to be found guilty I would think.
Anyway, just if you happen to hear about the MANN act sometime in the future.

It would have to be proven that sexual acts occurred, and I don't imagine someone who illegally performs sex acts for money as a profession is going to be interested at all in talking to police, much less testifying in court. I'd say there's probably a zero percent chance any charges are filed of that nature - with all the red tape that would be involved in trying to compel the "witness" to testify.

I can't speak for all OM fans as I'm sure we have plenty of obsessive psychos too, but the only time I really care about the good or bad of MSU is the week we play them. I will make fun of their weak arse scheduling though.

Unless someone recorded the stuff. Which wouldn't surprise me considering how sloppy Ole Miss was in all this mess.

I don't know if you could even script a more fubared attempt at cheating. Surely SOMEONE would have had the smarts to say, "hey Hugh, I don't mean to be a party pooper, man, but we cannot -- I mean, absolutely CANNOT -- be transporting hoes across state lines. This is serious shite, here. Like for real."

That's not how the Mann Act works (these acts are subject to a pretty loose interpretation). Those phone numbers being elsewhere and the hookers showing up in another state are enough. That said, "escorts" are such a grey area that it's harder to prove the "for immoral purposes part" even though everyone knows what an escort is for/does.

It's unlikely the Feds get involved short of convincing a girl to turn state's evidence which would be hard short of her already being in trouble.

That said, the Mann Act is so harsh I don't wish it on anyone. It also has a really bad history.

That is how I understand the Mann Act. The key is transporting. More than likely the whores drove themselves to Oxford. The concern for Ole Miss will be Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, if it applies.

Either way, Ole Miss is fricked.
