06 Mustain/Dick combined -32 rushing yards
07 Paul Smith 119 rushing yards
08 David Johnson 186 rushing yards
09 Chris Todd -116 rushing yards
11 Trotter/Moseley combined -19 rushing yards

Also give me credit going back all the way to the offseason in just about every thread I posted in I said Sean White would be Auburns QB this year.

I agree. He needs a decent QB. Not a running QB.

Who did he coach in '10? Looks like you are missing a year:

06: 10-4 SEC West Champions

10 - Cam Newton(1473) (SEC, NC)
12 - Malzahn Arkie STate: Fredi Knighten (50 yards)(Conference Champs)
13 - Nick Marshall (1068) (SEC, 2nd in nation)
14 - Nick Marshall (798)
15 - JJ (59)

So 8-9 wins on average. Throw in Cam and Nick's years and it bumps to 10.5 or so.

That would be 9-10 on average. Average would actually be 9.4

So, if I understand. Malzahn doesn't need running QBs. But if he doesn't, he has to have a combo like McFadden and Jones, who probably took close to as many snaps from the wildcat as the QBs did that year (kinda makes you have a running QB disguised as a running back doesnt it), or elite level passers for their competition, or be coaching against other high school coaches in CUSA. Otherwise, they are "meh". So, someone who runs from the QB position or be playing crap competition. Got it.

So it's not the lack of a mobile QB that's the issue this year, Malzahn is just a shitty coach then?

No, he is just a solid HC. Not consistently great, but solid.

mobility =/= bad qb play. JJ was just not that great all around.

maybe it's more just a myth that Malzahn is an elite head coach?

Man those are some mental gymnastics there. Basically if Gus has a talented QB he wins. If that QB can run it takes his offense to the next level. If his QB is average or sucks then his teams are average or might suck. Nothing groundbreaking there.

The better way to troll Auburn (which from your comments above is obviously what you want to do) is to ask "Why can't Malzahn develop QBs?" He has now gone 0/2 on QBs that he has recruited & "developed". That's more worrisome than not having a running QB

Anyone that was not a blind homer already knew this.

Running is certainly a value-add. But people are getting ahead of themselves if they think that's JJ's problem. We hadn't even gotten to the point where he's a make believe QB with the way he was managing the passing game.
