OU remains steadfast in their willingness to leave the Big 12, especially given the University of Texas' latest stand regarding conference expansion.
The number one target is, and will continue to be, the SEC.
It's SEC or bust for these guys, and they aren't concerned about the Grant of Rights, as they believe the boosters can more than make up for the gut punch if and when they leave. Not to mention the revenue they believe they can generate locally.
The Baylor issues have only created more fuel for the fire. Most in OU land never believed they were running a right ship, and felt like BUs ascendance gave the Big 12 an SWC "dirty" feel.
This is a school that wants out of their conference, and from what I've been told feels like it can drive the next round of the conference merry go round.
UT refuses to let go of the network, and is fine with being an independent, (Because Texas), OU is ready to go, not outwardly, mostly because they want a feel for things, but they won't be burned because of UT this time around and would prefer to drive the bus.

They can drive their bus somewhere else. OU will never be invited to join the SEC so please go to another board to post this stupid shite.

Actually OU was a target and turned down the SEC few years back.

Once heavy-hitters Memphis, Houston, Cincinnati, and BYU join the conference, Oklahoma will be fine.
What a train wreck.
What a train wreck.

OU might get an invite, eventually, but it won't be soon. With changing media consumption, it won't be all about state footprint for much longer.
Maybe we should leave the Virginia/North Carolina dream and embrace the Oklahoma/Kansas model. But, like I said, the status quo is good for the SEC, so we won't be jumping too soon.

Honestly, I'm not sure OU has the leadership in place to pull this off.
Everything I get is from boosters/former players.
I understand that those types aren't a great source, but I believe that the money drives everything. I do know for a fact that they want out, and that the dollars are talking, and talking loud.
The rub is the OSU thing, no one really knows if they can or can't go without them, but they feel like Pickens negates any problems with leaving.
I'll be honest, I have no idea what they're thinking. If OSU has to come, it's a non-starter, no matter what Pickens does.
Bringing OU into the conference would be ok IMO. Bringing OSU along would be detrimental, as it doesn't allow for the SEC to get a vital Atlantic Coast school.
Buying into OU with OSU doesn't fit the model. Cutting a deal with OU and ensuring that OSU goes to PAC with kU, etc. does.
The Big 12 is dying on the vine, that much I can tell you.

I love how you actually think you know this to be true.

No way the PAC takes Okie State and Kansas.
Putting aside culture and academics, the travel expenses would be obscene (with little return on their investment).

My understanding is that OU boosters do not want in the SEC because it's an easier road to playoffs staying put.

Don't want OU, but id take them in a heartbeat if it meant we could drop A&M or Mizzou.

i dont know why this has 5 downvotes, but it is absolutely true. OU had the chance to come with A&M but decided to stay tethered to texas.

A few things.
First, OU doesn't care about an easier road. The tide of college football is shifting towards a dominant class. OU sees the future and wants to be part of the dominant class, they feel less than dominant class in the Big 12, and DO NOT like the fact that UT is pushing away from expansion, they want a league with a championship game.
The feeling of not being first rate is rubbing some people the wrong way.
Second, as far as the PAC pushing away lesser programs, etc. They'd have no problem taking kU for basketball, and if OSU and Pickens came along, they wouldn't bat an eye. They would prefer a Texas team in the mix, and that might be a problem. Perhaps the PAC would be willing to take the LHN for what it is and market it better than ESPN has been able to do. Maybe convince UT to throw some shite third tier stuff on there and be done with it. They already have a regional PAC-12 Network.
ESPN would probably be more than willing to market that shite, given they've been kind of fricked on the LHN deal to begin with.
I don't think UT will go indy, pure speculation on my part, but I think the flop of the LHN has made them realize they need a conference.

OU isn't even an AAU member. Academics play a much bigger role than Joe Six-pack recognizes.
The President's aren't going to invite any school that doesn't upgrade academics.
Also the SEC schools aren't going to accept the lower network payout from adding OU.

I realize that, but, the first guys to go in conference expansion were TV sets and AAUs.
With the exception of Nebraska, who promptly lost their AAU and there's like 10000 people there watching on tv.
Pure opinion here but I think OU is thinking that the next move into conference expansion is the elite teams.
There are only two viable schools with AAU and elite status in one or more sports, UT, and god forbid, kU.
UT will never, ever discuss joining the SEC, and kU would look like an intramural team in the SEC.
Those guys go elsewhere. OU can bring some clout, athletically and financially. The AAU thing is kind of a moot point at this juncture. There's only so many of those guys available.

Thank you for regurgitating talking points that someone gave to you three plus years ago that have nothing to do with the SEC.

I don't know the inner workings but ESPN seems tighter in cash today compared to a few years ago. I'm not sure they can offer enough money to the SEC right now to justify more teams. OU is late on this.

That is pure bullshite. The value of the rest of OU's GOR (aka just their part) is over $100 million. They couldn't afford that kind of money to upgrade their facilities to the level they initially planned (they wanted to raise $250 million and raised only $160 million), so they sure as frick don't have it for a GOR when a GOR can't be financed so easily.
And there is no way the Big 12 will let them off easy, as them leaving would kill the conference so a team like Baylor will sue (and win) for almost every penny. GORs are used all over media, their legal power is a reliable quantity.
What you are talking to is a bunch of OU fans that don't know how poor they are, how fricked they are by the GOR, and how late they are to the realignment party.
Maybe in nine years OU will get to come to the SEC, but they have a decade of being fricked first.

Oh and one more thing:
They couldn't drive the bus last round, I don't know what makes them think they can this time. OU fans are retarded when it comes to realignment. They don't understand how late to the party they are for everything.
