I would follow whatever team we had a starting QB pretty closely simply because it has never really happened in my lifetime

Honest question: does the success of Eli Manning in the NFL make you feel better about you college football team's lack of success?
I can assure that the opposite is not the case - the former Alabama quarterbacks in the NFL do not concern me in the least, with the exception of those whom I like as players and wish for their own personal success. Since I don't care for AJ much, that leaves precious little to get my attention. I hope Greg Mac becomes a highly successful coach, because I like him.

I don't know why so many of y'all got so bent out of shape over the guy's post. He merely made the comment that with Alabama's success on the field and inordinate number of players drafted its hard to believe the Tide hasn't produced a good NFL QB in the last 30 yrs or so.

Alabama can always point with pride to three all time NFL greats--Bart Starr, Joe Namath and Kenny Stabler.

Not sure why you think I'm bent out of shape. I was just articulating why his point doesn't bother me. I acknowledge Alabama quarterbacks haven't had much success in the NFL since Rutledge - particularly odd since we had three Super Bowl MVP qb's from Alabama early on. And I am assuming that when your team has not had the success you hope (or if you're old enough, you remember when Ole Miss was powerful), it makes you more inclined to take interest in your former players who have moved on to the NFL.

This is the stat line for the 2009 title game
6 of 11 for 58 yards no td 5 sacks
McCarron posted solid numbers in his two titles, but the QB position is obviously under utilized at Alabama compared to other nationally competitive schools. Saban can afford to be a conservative coach.
This is why LSU v Bama is so often a merciless tug of war. two highly talented teams with middleschool playbooks. Someone should track I formation usage, I bet it peaks every year in this game.

We haven't used the I-formation. We used it just a little bit last year before Fowler got hurt.

It is certainly odd. Shows that NFL caliber QBs 1) Are not needed to win big in college and 2) Don't come around that often
