If you truly think that ole miss' pass was illegal read the rule books. After that, if that still doesn't do it look how bad the one in the LSU vs. auburn was. The rule is if any part of his body is behind the line of scrimmage whether it be touching the ground or in the air, while he releases the ball, then it is a legal pass. I think it's very funny that the announcers of the LSU game kind of looked into the crystal ball a little bit saying after JJ for auburn scored "I'm just glad this wasn't a deciding touchdown in a big game." They also expressed a big want for the rule to change and I agree, it should be where the ball is released at. Not where the man's pinky toe is, that's ridiculous. That being said the rules are the rules and anyone can use this jank rule to their advantage, because it is not "illegal."

We lost, we've moved on. You should too.

People are upset about the lineman/ineligible receiver downfield, not the quarterback. Its over and we had plenty of other opportunities to execute and win the game, but you don't know what you are talking about.

Dang, win a game by 24, take our man hood and some LSU fan will still bitch and start a thread about the refs. Should have known.

Where Kelly passed the ball is not what made it illegal.

They had a lineman 5+ yards down field, running to make a block before the ball was released.

They need to start making that reviewable, because it happens a lot and it's hardly ever called.

Crying about a penalty that had little to no effect on the play is desperate

Like I said, the game is over and we had plenty of chances to execute and win on Saturday.

However, speaking in general terms of this type of play, db's typically are taught to read off of the oline (run block vs. pass block and are they downfield) in order to determine if they need to come up in run support on the qb or to stick with the WR in pass coverage.

It is a very big part of those kind of plays and needs to be called correctly moving forward IMO, it has been missed quite a lot in recent years often resulting in long scores because of the nature of the play

This. It's a rule. It should be called and reviewable.

No, the refs made the right call? I was saying look at how it was called in the Auburn game. It was pushing the rule to its limits, but it was the absolute correct call. That being said there were lineman downfield according to the announcers if you listen to them, but we were winning by so much I didn't really care if y'all cheated on every play.

Are you serious? If the DBs see the QB running towards the line of scrimmage, and a lineman running downfield to make a block, they're supposed to break coverage and make a play.

Do you even, football, brah?

We have used that play a few times and benefited from it. But I do not like the rule. I would like to see it changed

Link or it didn't happen.

What made the old miss missed flag so bad is that the rule was changed this offseason to less yards and emphasis was put on looking for that very infraction and an extra ref is now on the field.

I swear if some of you guys had it your way we would never be able to talk about the rules of the game.

He wasn't complaining. He was trying to clarify a rule.

Unfortunately he missed the point of contention.

Why aren't people on here also complaining about the illegal forward touching on the on-side kick? I mean that had a huge impact on the game and was clearly illegal.
