The idea that Nick Saban ruined the SEC is stupid

Listen, I find Alabama as annoying as the next guy but I've seen a lot of people bitching and moaning this the past few days and it's just silly.
1. All of our teams recruit at a reasonably high level. Sure there is plenty of talent disparity between Vanderbilt and let's say A&M but we all have significant recruits and players that will play in the NFL. If your players aren't good enough when they play for your team, that's on your development as a program. Don't go blaming someone else for that.
2. A team will only play Alabama once in the regular season. That one loss isn't an excuse for all of your team's other lost games. Even if Alabama was unbeatable, which they're not (see Ole Miss) there is nothing stopping you from having an 11-1 team. With an 11-1,
3. Programs wasting millions of dollars on fringe coaches is no one's fault. Sure, they may have been successful elsewhere but let's face it. Our coaches are all pretty fricking weird. Weird is fine until it becomes a coaches trademark attribute and that is the case for too many SEC coaches.

What do you mean by ruined?
The fact that Alabama has dominated again for so long has definitely ruined some of the excitement for the season for many. Not for the Gumps obviously.
At this point, until Saban leaves it appears to be a 1 team league more often than not, no?

If anything he has spurred the rest of the SEC into improving. Though sometimes now at the cost of being impatient with decent coaches.

it's getting to the point that the regular season is already decided.
Bama has 99% of teams beat before a single snap is taken.

It's easy to tell Ga is having a good season so far. The snot level factor has increased by about 100% in the past few weeks.

The ga delusion continues. The op comes on here and acts like they are somebody. He is trying hard to get elbow room at the table. U are in the East - pump the brakes.

What has uga won since he shut that black out down with a quickness? Don't get cocky yet gawga...

The problem lies in the hands of impatient ADs and fanbases, more so than Nick Saban. Expecting every coach to be the second coming of Saban is unreasonable.

I see Georgia wants Bama after that big UT victory last week. Richt would likely still be at UGA if it weren't for Saban.

The problem is that if you lose to Bama, its almost impossible to win the SEC west division. Even if you lost to Bama and ran the table with the rest of your scheduled, Bama would have to lose two conference games for you to get back into the division race. When's the last time Bama lost two conference games in a season?
And if you're in the SEC East, you will eventually have to play Bama in the SECCG. When is the last time Bama lost in the SECCG?
One of Mark Richt's best teams ever hit that wall and now he is no longer the head coach at UGA. You can only hit that Saban wall and fail so many times before you lose your job because at the end of the day, you're not winning championships because Saban and Bama have taken that spot.
The same thing happened to Miles, Urban Meyer, and Phillip Fulmer. All championship coaches who lost their jobs or quit because of Saban's domination over them and the conference as a whole.

Saban has ruined it, in the sense that some other programs have panicked about not keeping up with the current pace he's setting.
I'm not sure what all happened at Florida, but something drove Urban Meyer out. It's clear he's still a great coach at Ohio State.
LSU just dumped a decade's worth of stability and success, because 9-10 wins "wasn't enough" and had to go. Well, that's gone now... but not the way we hoped.

Baseball is a prime example, Bertman and Polk showed the SEC how to do it, now all programs are very good and all can compete for championships.
It's up to each school to narrow the gap Bama has created. That's on coaches and there is no reason other SEC schools can't recruit at that same level.
You could also make the argument that UK has never been caught in basketball.

This is the main complaint.

Then work harder. It's stupid to blame others for your failures.

You are probably more right than most here would care t mention. Right now, there are 3 coaches in the SEC that coached for Saban in the SEC; Muschamp, Smart and McIlwain and although you have a limited body of work from Smart and Mc, you do have a real record by Muschamp which is mediocre at best....but FL and SC have spent a lot on him
There are only two coaches in FCS that can beat Saban right now from a coaching standpoint Swinney at Clemson and Urban Meyer. There may be some up and comer out there who can, but he has not materialized yet.

It's impatience. Same thing happened throughout the 1970s when Bryant had Alabama rolling.

Didn't UGA fire a good coach because he couldn't keep up with Saban?
