I don't like the playoff committee's rankings/power because it is a sure bet the SEC will be left out if one year, one of our SECCG favorites lose that game.

Win the game and it won't be a problem.
I look at the SECCG as a de facto playoff game.
If you lose, go home and work hard for next year.

Frick the committee
FSU 12-0 and ranked #4
Baylor beats TCU. Same record. TCU #3 Baylor #6.

FSU is only ranked #4 b/c that will send them to the Sugar Bowl against Bama. That game is easily drivable for both fan bases and would be a tough ticket. TCU and Baylor are close but wouldn't gauge the same interest from fans. FSU wouldn't travel well to Pasadena to play Oregon if they were 2 or 3. It's all about the $$$

Bigger problem. Four spots with five major conferences. I hope it goes to eight teams within the next decade.

Same record but Baylor losing to WVU badly is just as important

Head to head isn't the ultimate deciding factor. It is a big factor, sure, but not everything with a 12 game season.

Don't. Never did, never will. My idea is a coaches poll made up of well respected former coaches, not limited to HCs. Larger panel than committee, 30-60.
Tommy Bowden (would not want Bobby though)
Barry Switzer
Alvarez and Osborne
Dan Hawkins
Corso
Bill Oliver (or long time coordinators like him)
Jimmy Johnson
Lloyd Carr
Homer Smith

The problem I have, which to my knowledge no one has ever mentioned, is pure LOGIC. In the nfl with 4 divisions in each conference if Denver is 16-0 and New England is 15-1, then Denver is the #1 seed no matter the "eye test". And if NE and Baltimore are both 15-1 and Baltimore lost to NE then NE is the #2 seed. Therefore it should easily be
FSU 1, bama 2, Oregon 3, and Baylor 4. The committee is political and basing it on $$$$$

They had bad luck scheduling Okie Light and Notre Dame in a year they end up sucking. Then they get UF in another down year and play in a conference with weak teams. On top of that, they've gotten to 12-0 in really unimpressive fashion. If you have an easy road through an easy conference, you better skullfrick teams on your way to undefeated. It's why a weak schedule didn't hurt them last year, because they beat the hell out of their competition. Just watching them play and not considering record, I could see a reasonable person leaving them out all together.

TCU has the better resume at the moment. They have a win over a strong Kansas State team that Baylor does not. The head to head was in a very close game in Waco that TCU blew a massive lead in. I again understand the logic. TCU has the better loss and a "good" win OOC against Minnesota that Baylor lacks.
All of that being said, if Baylor can win this weekend and more so if they look good doing it the head to head will have them leapfrog TCU imo. The difference between 3-6 at this point is quite small.
I've been quite happy with the committee thus far. The real test comes Sunday when we see how the final standings end up working themselves out.

Coundn't agree more. The committee is a do-nothing mouthpiece. The NCAA and ESPN set this up so they could control regional match-ups and make sure the final doesn't have 2 southern teams. That's why FSU is fourth. If Bama and FSU both win, they play in Sugar Bowl and one eleiminates the other, leaving the one southern team for the final.

With the amount of $ the SEC generates and now with the SEC network to boot, I think the committee will send an SEC team regardless.
I think if AL loses to Mizzou, then they still rank AL ahead of TCU, FSU, and Ohio State.

Yeah...because under the BCS system we surely would have been in with this scenario.

Better than having a computer pick 2 teams. I don't know how people are saying teams are more screwed with the new system than the old.

What makes you think FSU, or their fans, would prefer going to Pasadena instead?
