You obviously didn't make it over to the Yella Fella party deck.

The Met, you park, go to the game, get back in the car to go home or grab something to eat at a strip mall chain restaurant. It's just not appealing to me. If it is to you, great. Go have fun.

Holy frick. What do you do at other venues? I just figured since you were capable of driving, you could drive to a non-chain restaraunt not in a strip mall. For frick's sake, if y'all can't find something to do in a metro with over a million people in it, I don't know what to tell you. Oh, for reference, the New Orleans metro is a million people.

Obviously everyone who hates Hoover wants a setup like at Regions where you walk 20 feet from the entry gates and can walk into a brewery.

There's nothing wrong with the met. It serves it's purpose. If people can't drive the 5 miles to lakeview to have a good time, they simply don't want to have a good time.

I remember LSU and State playing in the Superdome when I was in college back in 1998. Maybe they could try the Superdome one year.

I live here in Birmingham and have no problem finding something to do with my time. I simply gave my preference that I'd prefer going to an event where I can park my car once and incorporate a few different activities into catching the game. I don't go to SEC Tourney games at the Met because it's not appealing to me. If it is to you, great. I'm not the one criticizing anyone for their preference. Like I said, I couldn't care less where the SEC Tourney is held, but if it was at Regions I'd go.

Exactly. I've lived here almost 11 years, and have been to the Met a handful of times. We used to have recruiting nights for college students at the Barons games, went to a couple of Hoover-Homewood Football games back when my wife worked at Homewood, and another time was a wedding reception. I've never been to an SEC tourney game. Just doesn't appeal to me. Hold it downtown where there are thousands of SEC grads within walking distance of the stadium during the day games and it would be fun. Especially today, the friday before a holiday weekend. I probably would skip out on working the afternoon and walk down there and have fun. Hit up Good People between games, or during games. That being said, there does need to be more entertainment outside of the actual games for it to be successful if moved to Regions.

I've been to the Hoover Met twice - both in the 90's. Once for a high school playoff football game against Berry High, and once for a Barons game when Jordan was playing. I've been to Regions Filed a dozen times since it opened.

Oh and I parked there once for the Regions golf tourney when it was at Ross Bridge.

I haven't been to the Met, so I won't say it sucks, but do think it should rotate. I think that would increase attendance. It opens up the accessibility of it to more fans. While I won't say Metairie is the best location(though New Orleans would be fun), I would love to see it their every now and then. It would make it easier for me to make it. I also would be much more willing to attend the tournament in Memphis. But rotate between them, Gwinnett County, GA, and Frisco(or elsewhere in TX).
Maybe a rotation of the 4 plus Regions Park, with it going to Memphis at least twice, and selfishly Metairie twice.

Regions is definitely preferable, but if they don't have the parking, it's not an option. Maybe if UAB gets an on campus stadium there will be RV parking for Regions to use?

Pensacola Bayfront

yes please

there's also a huge grass lot a block over from the stadium that would fit the number of RVs that show up at Hoover. hotels and a good number of local food/drink within short distance of the ballpark. Pensacola Beach a few miles away.

I totally agree. Play the tourney at each of the Southern League baseball parks

You forgot Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile. Equal distance from Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge and Auburn

Do that many RV's actually come to the tourney?

They'll lead you to believe it's vital to the success of the tournament. But it's not. There's like 120 spots.

Arkansas fans don't travel to Hoover. The only fan base that would travel well to any site is LSU.

I'd go to several of them at Regions Field, though.

Downtown Birmingham?

You obviously have never tried to park at regions and have never tried to drive around downtown Bham.

Nice park, bad location for this tournament.

Actually, there are 128 plus another 30 or so in overflow. Many people come only because they have a respite in the rv park with people they know. I have seen 40 people at one rv. In the morning, it's looks like Mexicans piling out of an Olshan truck. It's ridiculous how many people are in the rv park.
The empty stadium this year is due to MSU not making it and Ole Miss going home early. Aside from LSU, both OM and MSU pack the place.

It should be in AutoZone Park in Memphis. It would make a shorter drive for over half the conference including the best traveling fanbases in the conference (LSU, State, Ole Miss and Arkansas). It would thrive in Memphis.

It would do well in Memphis. It would do better in Nashville
