Good question, there are some disputes as to the authenticity of the story.Lets just say brother Lewis may have "enhanced" some of the story.I've yet to see a copy of the actual headline.
That just seems like there would tons of copies floating around. If I were a dawg fan, I'd want a copy for the basement.

Just did a little research on my own and a guy named Futch who was Lewis Grizzard's editor/boss at the time says its not true and even confirmed that Happy Dicks did in fact play in the game.

Bah, ESPN changed the headline (I can't imagine why. Deadspin commented on it though.)

Well, from everything I've gathered it's nothing more than an urban myth.Never happened and there's never been a anyone who's ever authenticated the headline.
The main character/culprit (Happy Dicks) was not out for the game and led UGA in tackles that afternoon.

This is one of my personal favorites...
Dammit, I can't get the link to work from my phone. It was the headline when Mangino was hired at kansas, the interviewed and photographer his daughter. Her mouth was wide open, like she was screaming. Headline reads... Student Excited Dad Gets Head Job!"
Seriously. This actually happened. It was in the kansan.

Read several of his books and his syndicated column was one of the first things I looked for in our local paper each day. He was one of a kind.

I cried irl when I saw this.
The '14 NBA World Championship meant so much to the city of San Antonio, it's hard to put into words:

Never happened. It's Lew's embellishment on an old yarn that supposedly happened at the Banner-Herald.
