I know from experience that this is the worst part of our campus. Made it a full semester in this hell hole.

Evans Hall was the worst at the time but I think it's torn down now. A guy actually got murdered there about 4 years ago.

Greeks have become more important to universities lately. As a recruiting tool and because greeks are more likely to give back to the school afterwards.

So it makes sense to make sure the greek experience is all it could be. I don't think that's the case now at LSU.

Far from it IMO.

No. Greek affairs and the LSU admin hate the Greek system and try they best to make it die but it is not going away. I don't think having smaller houses is going to hurt the LSU greeks because the houses are big enough for parties and the frats that matter KE, KA, and EX all have big houses. We don't have anywhere on campus that we could move them to pull a Bama or USCe Greek Village so I think they are fine just where they are. I think what LSU needs to is move U-High (which is not going to happen) and then focus on making that corner of campus a badass Greek and student rec corridor.

You might actually be surprised. I didn't just pull that out of my arse, you know.

Even with the recent renovations, that campus is hella crowded. And with all the demand...it's probably the most-sought after school in the BR area...it could stand to be much bigger.

With that said, the School of Journalism in its bowels does look terrible

I spent the majority of my time in undergrad in that building. My first job out of college was in the basement.

Objectively, it's an ugly building.

With respect, I don't think that is true anymore. In fact, I'm sure it isn't. And I think soon you'll see more evidence of that.

Well it is in a horrible location. The morning and afternoon school traffic backs up traffic for the Old Row Greeks, ppl trying to leave the Cook hotel to get to downtown meetings, students going to the rec, law students and now the bookstore and new parking garage.

Tear down the ghetto between LSU and downtown and put that bad boy on Nicholson so that there are backstreets serving it, a 4 lane highway and future streetcar. That area has a nice grid so traffic movement could be maximized by using one way streets. Then turn the law school into a new library and build a new law school downtown by the capital. I always like how Mississippi College's lawschool was right next to the Ms State Capital. However that would take too much money.

While I like the idea of the Law School as a library, I judge it unlikely the law school will ever leave the campus.

Too much political pull IMO.

It was in 2011. Jonathon Sanders and the Angella (last name escapes me) hated the greeks and was always out to get us. They always treated the fraternities and sororities as guilty until proven innocent when any allegation came up.

It needs to change because LSU is missing on out on having a great Greek life experience like some of the other SEC schools. Plus Greeks typically have more $$ later in life to donate back.

Jindal has gutted higher education. LSU can barely maintain cutting grass let alone repair buildings.

It's not really having the dollars that's typically the problem. It's the willingness to give back that is.

Just my two cents...

True, but if the money was ever there a new badass lawschool overlooking the river and right next to the capital would be real hard to turn down, but that would take some serious $$$ and there are much more pressing needs.

IMO, one of the main reasons for building a new library where U-High sits now would be to closer to the law school.

In fact, I'd think it would be a tough sell otherwise.

I'm old enough to remember when students lived in the Tiger Stadium dorms. Those didn't have AC, either.

But LSU would give you all the paint you wanted if you wanted to paint your room.

Still weren't a lot of takers...

I didn't know Alleva lived in the old dorms. I know you are good with money but damn that takes it to new a level.

One of the Residential College dorms. This one is for Engineering students...

not to nitpick but the pictured one is actually for business students, the engineering dorm is to the left and not pictured. They have practically identical interiors

You can find the same type of architecture in some of these photos on military bases. Mainly in the former Soviet Union.

Huh? as in a technicality b/c it's situated on Main Campus off University Drive.

Yeah, I believe the land it's on is owned by the MSU Foundation/Alumni Association, and not the University. So, it's surrounded by campus, but isn't technically on campus.
