Nah, College football becoming huge and networks cashing in by televising and giving attention to all programs killed Nebraska

The record alone isn't what makes it so bad. When you realzie he has a 12 million dollar buyout, it gets worse. When you realize he got that buyout without any other school showing even the slightest bit of interest, it now belongs at or near the top of the list.

Dubose was the worst Alabama hire since Ears Whitworth, but even with that he still won an SEC title so I don't see how he could ever be considered a candidate for worst SEC hire.

Fran was at Alabama for two years. In his first, he improved a team that had gone 3-8 to 7-5 and won a bowl.
His second team went 10-3 and had the best record in the SEC west. He was also 1-1 against Tennessee, LSU, and Auburn. Texas A&M might consider him a bad hire, but there was nothing wrong with his performance at Alabama.

A very good choice for worst hire ever.

The correct answer for the entire NCAA is obviously Ellis Johnson

He went 0-12 at Southern miss in his first and only season, even though Southern Miss was 12-2 the year before

I can't argue with that, it certainly could, standing where we are today.

To be the architect of that deal and still have a job is what's unsettling. Alleva and F King Alexander need to see there walking papers before another search is compromised.

John L. Smith might not have been officially labeled interim; but everybody knew that's what he was. I'm not sure you can put a "worst coach" tag on an interim coach unless he literally wrecks the program.

Charlie Bradshaw - ahead of John Ray because Bradshaw wrecked what was left of Bear Bryant's legacy at Kentucky. Blanton Collier left with a winning record, the last UK coach to do that, and went on to win an NFL Championship in Cleveland. Bradshaw ran off almost the entire team trying to do his own version of the Junction Boys and the program has never fully recovered.

One year Bama opened at #3 in Preseaon poll. Led us to a 3-8 record. Should get bonus points for that.

I'm not even sure Saban is worthy of a $12MM buyout. Just think, if there's any potential you'll have to buy them out, don't hire them, or put significant performance goals in the contract.
