How crazy is that? They need a damn defense, not a new QB.

I think that's the first time I've visited MSN.com since like 2006.

Either way, Dak is the guy going forward and Romo is gone. Don't be ridiculous

All he said was he didn't want to discuss it. Instead of interpreting it as him not wanting to play Dak, you could interpret it as Garrett being respectful of Romo.

If they didn't start Dak it would just be another stupid move by an organization full of them. Of the 8 Qbs that played yesterday, Dak had the 2nd highest Qb rating. 4 of those Qbs have won Super Bowls. I'm tired of reading all of the crap about "what if Romo started". If Romo starts they aren't in the game at the end imo.

Garret is just a puppet for Jones. Honestly unless the cowboys get a defense which it seems like Jones don't want to do that, they won't be in the super bowl for a while. Which I'm not a cowboys fan but since I have Zeke in a dynasty fantasy league I'm going to root for dak to be successful so that the running game will be successful.

Stop being butt hurt as this kind of thing isn't about you. Romo's contract is way to expensive to dismiss the possibility that they may not be able to trade him off. Dak may have to be dealt to get that defense they need. Romo can do exactly what Dak can do for the cowboys as the O was built for Romo.

I hate the cowboys more than any team, and I wish the worse on them like nothing else. They may be stuck here though. I hope they make the wrong move though whichever one that is.

Not as much as prior coaches have been. Not Jimmy levels, but Garrett has gotten more control than any other coach has under jerah. He got jj to give him more power a few years ago, and he's been able to get the O where he has. D needs some help upfront no doubt.

Romo in his prime was better than Dak was last night. It's not even close. Dak had a sluggish first 3 quarters, and he's a rookie, so it's understandable. But he should have thrown two more INTs than he did, and he made some weirdly off target throws. You don't think Tony Romo can lead 4th quarter comebacks? Since 2006, no QB in the NFL has more 4th quarter comebacks. He has the best 4th quarter passer rating in NFL history. NFL. History. You know how many QBs have played in the NFL? Name as many as you can. Not a single one of them has a better 4th quarter passer rating than Tony Romo. 73 TDs. 29 INTs. 65% completion. And think of all the god awful teams he played on.

Dak might go down as a great NFL QB, but he is a rookie, and Dak as a rookie is absolutely NOT better than Romo was in his prime. Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman, Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck... you name it... as rookies, they weren't better than Romo in his prime. Romo is 36, and his prime is fleeting, and we have no idea if he still has it, but it's not unreasonable to think he still has something. I'm not saying he could have gone in cold without working with the first team for as long as he did, but it's still an unknown, and people are right to question it if they want to.

Ask yourself this question. Just a quick guess. It'll kind of show you how closely you paid attention last night and your general understanding of the NFL. Of Dak's 38 pass attempts last night, how many were straight drop back passes? Care to take a guess? Did you say three? Okay. Well let's look at those. One was a quick turn and fire pass that turned in to INT, and the other a quick flare to Dez single covered in the flat that needed to be checked in to something else. Both three step drops. He only had one pass that was more than a three step drop. One. ONE. And the Packers keyed in on that all night.

Let's say the Cowboys won. Do you think the Brady, Belicheck, and the Patriots lose to a QB that can't attempt more than one five step drop the entire game? Really? You're the dumbest person to ever watch the NFL then. Dak is a rookie, and he isn't a refined drop back passer. That's important. In the Playoffs, against teams that have tons of film on you and know pretty much your entire offense, when they can start eliminating giant chunks of shite you can't do... it benefits them greatly. And Dak can't drop back. He's either in the shotgun because that's all he knows(which isn't his fault), or it's play action. Either way it telegraphs what the Cowboys are going to do, and if the run game isn't at 100%, it bites the team in the arse. Dak needs to get better and keep the defense more honest. The Cowboys will not win a Super Bowl with Dak attempting one five step drop the entire game. They just won't. It might work against the Cleveland Browns, but it won't work in the Playoffs. The Cowboys scored 13 points through the first three quarters against a practice squad secondary. With Dez, Zeke, Witten, Beasley, and the best offensive line in football, the Cowboys needed to find a way to exploit the Packers terrible pass defense, and they couldn't until it was too late. There is a good argument that the Cowboys should have gone back to Romo when he was healthy. I probably would have stuck with Dak because the locker room wanted it, but I doubt Bill Belicheck would have stuck with Dak. You started to see signs of the struggle towards the end of they year. As brilliant as he was, he was still green. That's just the way it is.

Moving forward, you ride the Dak/Zeke rookie deal situation for all it's worth however. You try as hard as you can to get as much as you can for Romo and you hope Dak eliminates his rookie mistakes. By year 3, Dak will improve immensely. He won't even be in his prime, and I will say he might absolutely at that point be better than Romo ever was. He just wasn't in 2016.

You don't trade a promising young quarterback, period.

Romo is old and brittle. You trade him to a contender in the AFC and wish him well.

more like Romo's not in the game

Their O-Line mostly kept GB off their QB but somebody may have breathed on him at some point.

That's not crazy at all. He just said he wasn't going to name a starter for next season right now, and wasn't going to discuss it. That's not much of a story.

Did you miss the part where I said Romo's contract might be to expensive to easily trade him off?? Your point is stupid when you don't consider that...period.

This is more likely than not business. De-valuing Dak in case he is angling for a contract renegotiation and holding value or increasing it for Romo so they might be able to offload him and his giant contract.

Some speculate that this is more about nodding to Romo

I know you're going to get blasted due to the unpopular opinion, but you're right in a lot of ways. I've been watching/keeping track of the Cowboys for years, and Romo is vastly underrated. Dak has been solid, no doubt, but he's also been overrated so far imo.

I do think that if Romo had started earlier in the season and was given the team again, they're better overall, and likely win Sunday. This idea that Dak is already better than Romo is just silly. He may be better than Romo with time, but he's not there yet.
