I just calculated the cost of living for both cities. Lane's $1 million in Boca Raton would be around $816K in Tuscaloosa. That's around a 40% decrease in salary from $1.4 million.

Lane definitely wasted his time in Tuscaloosa since it did nothing for his career. He could have gotten this shitty FAU job without spending the last 3 years getting bullied on the sidelines.

Yeah, but Boca/ Miami is 100000000x better than Alabama as a whole. Worth the pay decrease

Wrong comparison. He didn't have any job offers in January 2014, so whatever he made in Tuscaloosa > 0.

For an accurate measure, you need to analyze how his new salary compares to $2 million in Baton Rouge and see if that raises any questions.

Actually, it was a zero sum game for Lane. His salary at Alabama reduced his buyout payments from USC.

He needs to prove he won't do crazy stuff as a head coach and he'all be back in the Power 5. This is a short stop unless he botches it.

Kiffin's never had a losing season as a college head coach. His worst full season has been 7-6.

He can probably get an EBT card and some gov-subsidized health insurance.

Eh. He got three years studying under the best in college football. And that's after his career was dead.
Dudes only 41. His swagger will play well down there. If shows ANY improvement as a HC he will be well positioned for a top tier job in three years.
