I'd be embarrassed by this if I were an Alabama Alum.

I wouldn't say Hurley was our biggest bust, he was at least a solid contributor and starter.

Biggest bust is by far, Demetris Summers. Some recruiting services had him ranked higher than Reggie Bush in that class. Let that sink in.

I just think he was overrated coming out of high school. I never thought he would be a great SEC player. Derrick Davis, the other RB with him at Meridian, also signed with OM but had blown out his knee in HS. Until his injury he was going to be the real deal. Hate that he got hurt.

Yeah he played at Deshler in my neck of the woods.

He couldn't hold onto the ball.

Couldn't adjust to college life so many of the HS players from this area.

I saw the biggest bust in SEC history at one of our games recently.

That "bust" is going to make more in the NFL than all the aforementioned combined.

Maybe the Vol fans can help me out with this one. I want to say Janzen Jackson, but I recall him having a pretty good year at Tennessee before transferring. Am I wrong?

Tha frick? Perrilloux was a straight-up baller with a phenomenal skillset.

He had the arm. He had the legs. He just didn't have the head.

For me and the Gators it has to be Willie Green...Mr football for the state of Florida and broke emmitt smiths HS record for rushing yards and TD...

Sad article about him turning to drugs

I was thinking about him as I read this thread. The next Bo Jackson if I remember correctly. Think he had some knee issues.

For being the #1 recruit wire to wire, he hasn't come close at all to living up to that rating.

TENNESSEE
Player: RB Bryce Brown
Year: 2009.
The skinny: He was a five-star signee who was considered the nation’s top recruit by some and, at the least, a top-three guy by everybody. Brown, who was from Kansas, was the centerpiece of the first (and, as it turned out, only) recruiting class put together by Lane Kiffin at Tennessee. He had a handler who set up a pay site that provided “updates” on Brown’s recruitment. While he committed to Miami, Brown didn’t sign on National Signing Day, and his recruitment lasted another month before he chose the Vols. Brown was a backup to Montario Hardesty as a true freshman and ran for 460 yards. But that was it. Kiffin left after the season, for the USC job, and Brown followed suit a few months later, heading “home” to Kansas State.

Not sure I'd label Brown a bust. He was fantastic while he was here but like every other Kiffin recruit he didn't stick around -- each in their own way but almost all before they'd been here for 2 seasons. That said, unlike most Kiffin recruits BB kept his nose clean and didn't embarrass us.

But as mentioned in the quote, Bryce Brown was being handled (his Dad, believe it was dad, was pimping him out) and when Kiffin left they took the arrangement to Dooley. When Dooley refused to pay BB left.

However, Bryce Brown's heart really was at UT and I believe that had it not been for his handlers he would've been perfectly content to stay regardless of 'arrangements.'

Hell, in the NFL he announces his school as Tennessee which honestly surprised me.
