Of all things to mention...
Why bring Florida into their description when your location of 4 hours from salt water? Weird.

Welp. It looks like I'm never viewing any Forbes article ever again.

Because it's a national publication and prospective students like to be within proximity to the beach would be my guess.

Meh, while I love Fayetteville, I will say Hendrix is a great college with excellent academics.

4 hours though?
If you want to be near the beach there are way better choices.

You never made 4 hour trips after a long day of class?

Didn't click but if this isn't about sports why not post on OT board. Maybe keeping up with the rest of the trolls.

Auburn says "hey" on Hey Day.

I know why an Auburn fan posted this.

Ya, I don't think you will find any Arkansas fans argue that you can get a better degree at Hendrix, really good school

LSU ranked higher than Auburn

In my opinion, the best small college in the SEC states are as follows:
Texas: Southwestern (the SWC's Sewanee- they were an original member and used to beat A&M's arse)
Arkansas: Hendrix
Louisiana: Centenary
Mississippi: Millsaps
Alabama: Birmingham Southern
Tennessee: Rhodes (but Sewanee puts up a fight)
Kentucky: Centre
Georgia: Emory
Florida: Embry-Riddle
South Carolina: Furman
If you include larger universities, only Centre, Millsaps, Hendrix and Furman are the best in their respective states. Emory could make an argument in Georgia, I guess.
I'd put very little stock in this article though - they list Williams as the best school in Massachusetts. Williams is a fine school, but its third at best behind Harvard and MIT.

As has been said in many a thread like this by rational non-idiots, Alabama and Auburn both have certain things that they do very well.
Alabama has a very good accounting, nursing, communications and law school while Auburn has a very good engineering, forestry, architecture, and other programs. In addition to those, both schools have solid majors in their non-best areas.
You can get a very good engineering degree at Alabama and you can get a very good accounting degree at Auburn.
To be such a poor, low ranking state, kids in Alabama have 2 very good big public school options, and that doesn't even count UAB or UAH, which also have some very well respected programs.

Rice is Texas's.
Not that Southwestern is bad, I went there for a year. Talk about a liberal "safe space."

The only SEC schools on that list are Auburn, Vandy, and Florida unless I missed it. Emory, Tulane, Hendrix (?), Rice, etc won other states

Eh. Williams is right there with both. All three are elite.
