I get it, there are only two teams with two or fewer losses. Many would claim the sec is down due to that fact. I would argue it's just more competitive. Any given Saturday, an SEC team can pull off the upset. It's a higher caliber league. I haven't looked into it, but are any other conferences gonna send anywhere near 79% (11/14) of their teams to the post season? I highly doubt it. Alabama is the only team in the country that could run the table in the SEC west.

The counter argument is how bad the SEC has been OOC this year.

In year's past you wouldn't have LSU losing to Wisconsin, Auburn losing to Clemson, Ole Miss losing to FSU, Mississippi State losing to SOUTH ALABAMA.

etc.

It's painfully clear the SEC has taken a major step back this year. It's the coaching.

The SEC East is down because Mizzou is down.

It's "down" because typically there are a handful of extremely good to elite level teams. This year there is only 1, a few "pretty good" teams and some really average to awful ones.

I think offenses are down in the SEC this season. Just not a lot of great players on offense this year and some mediocre offensive lines to boot.

I think its a combination of competitive balance, injuries, and Bama just being the best. We also have the east who is dragging us down because they could finish the season with 2 or 3 victories vs the west.

I would say we would butt rape the other conferences in bowls but I'm not so sure due to injuries.

LSU is a different team than the first four games, Auburn was different until white got broken. The hogs aren't bad but they have been buzz sawed by top west teams. State had a slow start and a few just weird losses but they could still make a bowl, ole miss highly ranked but beavers suck at holding leads.

We're about to have Bama 12-0 and literally everyone else 9-3 or worse.

But that doesn't mean we aren't still the best conference. We are just more competitive this year.

Seeing a lot of young or inadequate QB play this year. This years we were the best saw a lot of experience at QB across the league and a higher level of play from them.

Scoring starts at the QB and great defense is wonderful, but it generally does not put that many points on the board.

This is the type season that the SEC shows out in bowl games because the youth at certain positions has grown up.

The West is good. The East is terrible.

I admit I mocked LSU when you fired Les early in the season but in all honesty, that was a very different LSU team we played last weekend then it has been for years.

As for Arkansas we beat the teams we should beat and then get stomped by the good teams. If we win out we can console ourselves in that this year we got to watch the worst 9 win season in Arkansas history.

IMO, there's just a lot of parity now in the SEC, aside from Bama of course. Think about 2009-2013 SEC, there was more than one really good team. Take away Bama and what other team in the SEC would you pick to win it all this year?

Average to below average quarterback play almost across the board.

That's not very good considering we don't play a lot of good teams OOC. We'll probably get some more losses when Florida plays FSU and SC plays Clemson.

It's just crazy how the fortunes of a team rise and fall on one game at a time. UT starts 5-0 and it's "Brick by Brick! Nat'l Championship contender!" Get blown out by Bama, and lose to South Carolina and it's "Fire Butch! Everybody knows he sucks!"

Gus starts out shaky against Clemson and it's "Fire Gus!!" Win six in a row and it's, "Coach of the year! Iron Bowl for all the marbles!" Lose to UGA, and it's "Fire Gus" all over again.

LSU loses to AU on a last second play, and they fire the coach, win a few games and "they play for Coach O!", get shut out by Bama and "he's not the guy".

Life in the SEC for teams not named Alabama.
