I think that going into the 2016 season, barring another arrest or an unexpected turn to the pro ranks for Chad Kelly, there are 4 teams that have a chance to finish last in the West.

Arkansas, Mississippi State, Auburn and Texas A&M.

Arkansas is the least likely of those 4, but it could happen if our new QB fails. We will still have the best TE in the SEC (Sprinkle) and our wide receiver corps will be one of the top 3 in the conference. Our defense is a question mark but we return 19 of 22 on the 2 deep.

Mississippi St. is next. They lose their entire offense and their defensive coordinator. They'll have to break in a new QB. Mullens, while never all that good, usually has at least something in the tank. He also has the advantage of not being in a complete dumpster fire.

Auburn is likely to improve on their last place finish with a 6th place finish in 2016. There's no QB, no QB development, no Defense and not really much hope. Gus will likely realize this and spend the entire season scheming for Arkansas.

Texas A&M is most likely to finish last in 2016. I'm not sure they'll be able to field a team by then or have a coach for one. The Quarterback situation is a nightmare beyond any we have seen in the SEC in recent years. If any player has any hope they're jumping ship.

You clearly don't pay attention to Auburn football...only in Arkansas could Burt do what he has done and people be excited. Gus has done more in the same time and is on the hot seat.

I think you have your coaches and their obsessions confused.

We actually return 8 on both sides of the ball. We ought to be improved at every position group except QB, and the guy behind Dak is pretty good.

returning 8 on offense is irrelevant.. Dak is your entire offense

Too soon to tell what every team has or will have for next year. Arkansas, for example, could challenge for the West or finish last. Auburn has a history of pulling great seasons out of their butt when they are down and out. As for the Aggies... how a team with that much raw talent can play that poorly at times is beyond me. When they are clicking they look as good as anyone in college football, when they aren't they can lose to anyone in college football.

I genuinely laughed at this, well done

With he shitstorm that is hovering over A&M right now, it is hard not to assume they are the clear favorite to finish last in the west next year.

Auburn has a brutal schedule on paper so they have the toughest road unless we jump into an alternate universe.

MSU will have a tough time replacing their best quarterback ever. Honest question, did Mullen ever play a backup quarterback the last two or three years? I don't ever watch MSU play except when they play Auburn so I really don't know the answer to this. I don't think defense is going to be an issue with them, they will be around the same mark they always are on defense.

Arkansas will be Arkansas again. They beat some shitty teams despite being a shitty team themselves, they sucked the least this year. I expect them to be similar to this year because BB is an 8 win coach, congrats.

You clearly don't pay attention to Auburn football. Bert's record has improved every year at Arkansas while Gus's has gotten progressively worse.

Nick Fitzgerald had to play most of the Troy St game because Dak had the running shoots and left after two drives. He threw 2 TDS and State won 45-17. Now, I know it was Troy, but Fitz played pretty well.

This explains the mindset of Arkansas fans perfectly. They finish one game above Auburn, a team they went to overtime with, and it's somehow hopeless in Auburn while Arkansas will be some kind of juggernaut next year.

LSU always finds a way to disappoint.

So don't count us out

Fair enough, it was an honest question. Is Fitzgerald the heir apparent or is there another guy that will be competing for the spot?

I see that you missed the part where we've been talking about how we could easily finish last next year. Take some deep breaths and calm down, there is plenty of suck to go around and Auburn has their fair share of it.

It's Fitz's team as of now, but there will be a battle between him and Elijah Staley this Spring. Both have the talent to be great QB's. Neither has the leadership of Dak. We return a lot of starters on both sides of the ball. Dak leaving obviously hurts, as does De'Runnya. WR group will be improved as whole. I see 8 wins, which seems to be a safe prediction under Dan Mullen. We have to much stability as a program right now to be a dumpster fire. I'm sure we'll be picked last again, but I'd be willing to bet we won't end up there.

We're on the list of potential teams to finish last
It's not that far of a stretch. A few injuries, and the ? at QB. OP was correct in putting us on the list, although I still think it's too early for this discussion.
