Probably has a gay reference. Couldn't you have left that term and your yell leaders behind in the Big 12? It's not acceptable in the SEC.

Make no mistake though, it's not like everyone else and definitely not high school'ish. No tempera paint on a roll of butcher paper saying " Gig the Frogs!" was ever used.

It may have been trademarked and made official in 1930, but E.V. "Pinky" Downs coined it in 1906.

If that's true, then it should have stayed in the Big 12, like I said. Loses its meaning when it's used for other teams. Not to mention it is a very feminine sounding term.
