Lost by 7 to Oklahoma after giving up a commanding lead at home.
Lost by 1 at Florida, by way of last minute touchdown. Outperformed Florida in basically every category except the one that matters.
Lost by 4 to Arkansas in a game that was back and forth, with multiple chances to take the lead in the 4th quarter.
Lost by 5 to Alabama, after giving up a 4th quarter lead and late drive for a go ahead touchdown.
Really kinda crazy to think about how close UT was to having a championship caliber season.

Why did you have to do this?

Late night thoughts combined with the hope that Phat Phil is already asleep.

Yeah. Well now you've got the launch sequence started. Viles won't be able to settle down again.

They never remotely came close to taking the lead in the 4th.

let's not get ahead of ourselves here. when they played arkansas we spotted them 14 points and then proceeded to kick thier arse for the next 3 qtrs. the last 5 minutes of the 4th qtr was a derp fest, but thier QB was awful against our awful secondary. if no brows can't pass against our defense they wasn't going undefeated anyways. they did about as good as they could for being handicapped with butch's coaching and no brows throwing the ball.

I didn't say they did, but they did have a couple opportunities.
They also had a 9 play drive with a few minutes left in the game. Arkansas' defense did a great job in the 4th.

Very possible. We had 5 games come down to the last play and went 2-3 in those games. We could have easily finished 5-7 or 10-2.
I definitely think we were better than 7-5 though but we just didn't have our shite together early in the year. The loses against Toledo and A&M were both inexcusable and shouldn't have come down to the last play.

You're not even a fan of these teams and you can recall this?
I'm not flaming at all. It's just amazing to me how many of you in here can recall so much about teams you're not even fans of.

Not really. We tried everything to give Tennessee that game, but they wouldn't accept it. I remember being happy that we won, but feeling ashamed at the same time, because Tennessee had basically made it impossible for us to lose. We could have given them the ball on the 1 yard line and they would have ran the wrong way. I wish the game had been played later after both teams improved, because that would have been a good game.

I view Toledo and Texas Tech as the extended spring ball that no one else took.
Seriously though, Toledo was just an epic example of shooting yourself in the foot. How 510+ yards of offense gets turned into 12 points is just insane, then you add that we later became one of the most efficient offenses in the SEC and one of the best red zone offenses in the country is just the icing on the cake.
Our losses where at least failures though. Tennessee beat damned near every team they played for at least a significant part of the game except maybe Alabama. In the first quarter against us, they looked unstoppable then just imploded.

What could've been?????
I use to play that game at seasons end.
During Bama's probational years between 1996-2005.
Tennessee could have a successful season next year if they learn to finish their close games. Can't lose all the games you've got circled before the year and win a championship.
