UT would not be in the top 10 of all time wins if that were true. They wouldn't be anything like 4th in all time Bowl wins, which have proliferated in that time frame. Tennessee went to a bowl game when there was only one bowl game.

And like I said, many major teams have had seasons where they won no games at --all--. UT has won at least 4 games every year since 1923. And I don't think UT has -ever- had a season where they won no games.

Don't some of you guys feel sort of pathetic?

Boo hoo.

Mzzou just doesn't match up well against the Volunteers.

In 2003 UT had the misfortune to come under the control of a very very very very very bad AD, Mike Hamilton. This culminated in him firing Coach Fulmer to hire Kiffin. It was NO-BRAINER, Athletic Director 101, that Kiffin would bolt. His buy out as I recall was $400K. Then Hamilton hired the USELESS FRAUD Derek Dooley.

Those days are done and we look to have a good year and a bright future again -- as one of the elite programs in CFB.

Some of ya'll sound pathetic.

It is absolutely true. Look it up yourself.

edit: I would note that, for Alabama, the numbers are reflective of the forfeits and vacated wins that the ncaa decided UA deserved.

I was wrong. UT was winless in 1891.

Other winless seasons. Just a sample.

1967 Wisconsin Badgers football team
1968 Wisconsin Badgers football team
1973 Florida State Seminoles football team
1973 Iowa Hawkeyes football team
1977 UCLA Bruins football team
1979 Florida Gators football team
1979 Richmond Spiders football team
1955 Alabama Crimson Tide football team
1950 Auburn Tigers football team
1949 Mississippi State Maroons football team
1996 Duke Blue Devils football team
1948 Texas A&M Aggies football team
1946 Florida Gators football team

LINK

During ALL of those years, UT won at least 4 games.

And UT has winning records against Michigan, Ohio State and FSU.

I did what you asked.

I know off the top of my head that Majors won 67% of his games and Fulmer won 75%.

That takes us back to 1976.

Aren't you at all embarrassed?

UT is in the Top Ten all time even WITH the last 10 years' slide.

I know that UT was the 7th program to win 700 games. We have slipped from 2nd in all time bowl appearances to 4th.

Even total Fraud Dooley could win 5 games.

Give it up;

I did note that those stats were up to the last 50 years. I also noted that UT's heyday was in the 40s and 50s, so obviously, UT won enough prior to 1960 to currently place in the top 10. Nobody said otherwise. The point is that since 1965 (50 years), UT has not been a top 10 program, and in fact is 5th in the SEC in winning pct and 6th in number of titles. So in the lily white days before SEC teams integrated, UT was very good. Since then, fairly mediocre as compared to the SEC overall.

But that isn't true. The '50s were a down time for the Vols. Not only that - it was during the 20's and 30's -- that the Vols were really top drawer.

The '40's seriously don't count because of World War Two.

1926 Tennessee 8–1 5–1 2nd
1927 Tennessee 8–0–1 5–0–1 T–1st
1928 Tennessee 9–0–1 6–0–1 2nd
1929 Tennessee 9–0–1 6–0–1 2nd
1930 Tennessee 9–1 6–1 3rd
1931 Tennessee 9–0–1 6–0–1 2nd
1932 Tennessee 9–0–1 7–0–1 T–1st
Tennessee Volunteers (Southeastern Conference) (1933–1934)
1933 Tennessee 7–3 5–2 4th
1934 Tennessee 8–2 5–1 3rd
Tennessee Volunteers (Southeastern Conference) (1936–1940)
1936 Tennessee 6–2–2 3–1–2 4th 17
1937 Tennessee 6–3–1 4–3 7th
1938 Tennessee 11–0 7–0 1st W Orange 2
1939 Tennessee 10–1 6–0 T–1st L Rose 2
1940 Tennessee 10–1 5–0 1st L Sugar

And UT won 100 games in the '90's.

You are just wrong and persistently wrong.

You say the '50's were a "hey day" time for the Vols.

They were not.

1955 Tennessee 6–3–1
1956 Tennessee 10–1
1957 Tennessee 8–3
1958 Tennessee 4–6
1959 Tennessee 5–4–1
1960 Tennessee 6–2–2
1961 Tennessee 6–4
1962 Tennessee 4–6

Pretty undistinguished after Coach Neyland left the scene.

Oh ok. So the 1920s and 1930s were the UT heydays. So 80 to 90 years or so ago. I can believe that. Thanks. All I knew for sure, because I looked it up is ................

Where Tennessee ranks the last 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20, 30, 40, and 50 years, according to statistics at Stassen. This, UT fans, is reality.

2010-2015: Tied with Middle Tennessee State at 75th in the nation, following Tulsa, Duke, Ball State, Rice. Trails 10 SEC teams, including Missouri.

2000-2015: 35th in the nation, following Northern Illinois, Toledo, South Carolina, Missouri. Ranks 8th in SEC.

1995-2015: 19th in the nation, behind 5 other SEC teams. And this includes your best years since the 1940s and 50s.

1985-2015: 13th in the nation, behind 4 other SEC teams.

1975-2015: 18tth in nation, behind 4 SEC teams.

1965-2015: 14th in nation, behind 3 SEC teams.

Like Bammer, UT has been blessed with two pretty good to outstanding coaches.

Coach Neyland won 171 games. His WP was 82%.

Coach Fulmer won 150 games. His WP was 75%.

UT won 100 games during the 1990's.

Even Johnny Majors who I never liked won 67% of his games.

'01, '04' '06 and '07 were pretty good years. Dooley won 15 games in 3 years and he lost to KY which was playing a QB with his arm practically in a sling.

Kiffin went 7-6 but came within a blocked field goal of beating Bammer. Bammer did not score a TD that day.

The stats you posted don't support the assertion you made earlier. But that is not a big surprise. It is an opinion that you hold that the stats don't support.

You remind me a lot of Gator fans. Bad losers -and- bad winners.

You are such an idiot. Your idiocy is approaching Unity.

A little factoid that I bet you didn't check prior to posting your skewed opinion.

As I said, in the '90's, UT won 100 games.

Bammer won 74.

As you can see, there is no top 10 in the last 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20, 30, 40,or 50 years. I believe you, though, that UT was really good 80 and 90 years ago. If my great grand dad was alive, I bet he could confirm that. Yes sir. Tennessee was hell back in the 1920s.

Where Tennessee ranks the last 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20, 30, 40, and 50 years, according to statistics at Stassen. This, UT fans, is reality.

I can remember being up in the cheap seats at Neyland and seeing Coach Bryant with that damned hat leaning up against the south goal post, maybe that was 1981 or ‘82.

And I always liked and respected him and the Bammer program (okay except saying ‘Bammer’ which I can’t resist).

And I still like and respect the Bammer program. I even chuckled at the Regions Bank commercial where Coach Sabin is trying to buy that expensive dress from the co-ed.

And Bammer clearly has the best history in the SEC and especially lately. I don’t have any problems with that; but bad fans who just come to poke for the sake of poking, I don’t much like. You say you are a Bammer fan. One might think you’d be happy with the last 10 years or so. But no, that isn’t adequate. You post a bunch of shite that the record won’t support.

Give me a little bit of credit, now. I don't think I was even responding to you when I first posted those stats, but if I remember correctly, you responded to me and said it was opinion. I'm just posting the numbers.

And yes, UA and UT used to be a respectful rivalry. Phil Fulmer and his "secret witness" to the ncaa, trying to bring down his bitter rival, turned it from a respectful rivalry to what it is now. Maybe, just maybe it can get back to that.

edit: Oh yeah, and you have to admit that you may have played a part when you called me an idiot. I never did personally insult you. Read back and you will see that. No big deal, though. No blood, no foul.

Hey can you split that up by decade? BEcause since you're using "since 19##" as your justification, you are creating a recetncy bias which hurts us due to our recent troubles. Split it up only be decade like:

90s:
00s:

etc...because what does 2000-2015 have to do with our success in the 90s, 80s, etc? Nothing at all.
