(Hart) is not going to give interviews about his coaches' status the way his predecessor did. Hart, like all ADs has a plan; we are told that extremely informal, third-party conversations have already been taking place in the event that a change is made.

IF a decision is made about Dooley's future, it likely will not hinge on how the program could save X dollars if Dooley returned for another season because of a decreasing buyout. Dooley's buyout is approximately the same, hovering around $5 million and certainly going no lower than $4 million anytime soon, and is payable across 36 months. So it's not a situation where if the powers that be said 'Bring him back one more year, and if it doesn't work, his buyout drops in half.' That's simply not the case.

So if y'all are worried about his buyout, then I would go ahead and rule Gruden out... To me it sounds like you can't pay him and the buyout.

Gruden makes bank on MNF and can demand a huge salary in the NFL. Whether or not he deserves it.

Do people think that the AD pays for buyouts? More often than not, especially at major programs, they are taken care of by major donors/boosters. Jimmy Haslam could pay for Dooley's entire buyout buy skipping lunch one day. Money is not an issue.

Dooley's buyout money had already been pledged. That's fact.

Many donations were earmarked under the stipulation that some of it had to go to Dooley's buyout in order to receive the rest of it. I'm not worried.

Has Gruden ever expressed publicly any interest in coaching college football?

IMO it's in bad taste to start this process in any fashion until after this week's game.

I agree, or at the least, to make it public. That's not helping anyone.

A guy with no college experience and only 6 winning seasons of 11 is going to save Tennessee. Rich Kotite is available. I hear he acts like a good coach on television too.

Anybody who thinks that UT can't afford the buyout is kidding themselves. Point being...LSU, UA, AU, UGA, Fla, aTm and UT can afford buyouts with the money donors...period. Do they WANT to pay a buyout? No. Can they afford it...yes.

This always helps the situation, especially since it's been made public.

How in the world is a buyout for someone like Dooley $5M?? That's worse than Chizik's $7.5M, IMO. At least Chizik has done SOMETHING while at AU. Dooley is 0-13 against ranked teams -- 0-13! -- and hasn't even won a bowl game.

Wow.
