Would like to hear you briefly discuss what you have been hearing about your team through the practice reports. What to expect and from whom. Not blind homerism but the good and the bad. Quick summaries or bullet points are a plus.

Quarterbacks can't hit the broadside of a barn
Dbs got grass stains all over cause they keep falling down
Kickers like the army, left, right, left
No leadership
Need to just start over

Either our defense is improved or we can't run the ball?

Alabama

The Bad -

QB position is a mess. Coker not taking control, inaccurate and inconsistent. Cornwell seemingly passed by Morris since spring. Morris still status quo, far from great. The future with Barnett looks to be extremely bright, but may not be ready both physically and mentally for 2015.

The Good -

Pretty stacked at Dline and Linebacker. The safeties and cornerbacks are really coming along with a lot of depth here as well. Minkah Fitzpatrick is getting the greatest CB hype i have ever heard under Saban. If he was in the same class as Marlon and Brown he would already be ahead of him them. At least according to the reports.

Left to be seen - I think the OL will end up being stout, especially in the run game, but Dom Jackson at RT may be a problem in some passing situations.

From AU:

Offensive line should be strength of team

3* Peyton Barber and Roc Thomas are both had of Jovon Robinson. Likely to see Peyton and Roc split time aka Thunder / Lightning like we have done in past with Mason / Ontario McCallab.

Sounds like Jovon being 3rd string right now isn't a talent issue but rather an 'effort' issue.

Qb's have been fine JJ and Sean White

Duke wasn't giving good effort missed 6 practices came back today and "tweaked" his ankle in scrimmage

Carl Lawson has literally been unblockable Devonte Lambert will bookend Lawson with Monty Adams and Dontavius Russel in the middle. We'll have a heavy rotation of interior linemen.

Byron Cowart is physically ready but has hit the freshman learning curve.

Tre Mathews and Rudy Ford at safety could be the best tandom in the SEC

Michigan 5th year transfer Blake Countess has performed better than expected. He's almost guaranteed a starting spot at corner or nickel.

We don't have a great TE but don't use them often.

We have 2 strong Hback / Fullbacks but they have no game experience.

Outside of Duke we have talent at WR but it's 'inconsistent' talent. JUCO transfer Jason Smith could be the bright star of the bunch.

Our punters still suck.

Our starters are beasts no doubt, but OL is the one position group that I'm not in love with the depth. We are 2-3 deep with great quality depth everywhere else. Even if JJ or Duke went down I wouldn't be that concerned about a drop off in production. If Shon Coleman or Avery Young went down though, I'd be pretty worried.

Here is Boz's break down on the DBs. DBs, mainly CBs, have been a real problem for Bama in the past 2 years. Getting this group to perform well would vastly improve the defense overall. Also they are working on turnovers more after having a deficit last year.

quote:

OK this group is looking really good.

Safeties:

Free Safety

Geno has good speed and seems to really enjoy playing FS, he has good instinct and hits hard. He is faster than Perry which is an upgrade.

Ronnie Harrison could start here no issues, he only lacks game experience. He is fast, can jump, hits like a ton of bricks, nose for the ball.

SS
Eddie finally found his calling, it was like watching a new man. He hits hard, is faster than LC and covers well enough for a safety.

Hootie, I like him alot, he gets the defense and was in position literally every single time. Him and Eddie are easily interchangeable.

Corner back

Cyrus is solid as a rock, great speed, is super aggressive, I see no issue at all here. He is alittle short but boxes out so well it doesn't matter.

Tony Brown, fast, agreesive, chip on shoulder, and is light years past where he was.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is a freaking star right now, I couldn't believe the interception he had. Unbelievable athlete, he is going to play some where he has to be on the field.

Humphrey wasn't 100% so hard to say. He definitely has speed, and great physical presence.

Anthony Averret did really nice as well and that kid is freaking grease lightning.

Mo Smith is experienced and solid but I think he isn't the athlete some of the young guys are.

Well this consistent of spring predictions but i thought i read that guard play wasnt as strong as previous years. Maybe i misread that though? Who is your LT?

I was in love with Jovon Robinsons RB highlights during recruiting so ive been pulling for him to put it all together. Would love for him to be a successful player. Hopefully he gets it down.

What will JJ's playing weight be? Is he as nimble for his side as Cam was?

Sounds like your Dline and safeties are strong. Was the Melvin Ray hype i heard a joke or will he be very productive this year? Can he run routes well?

Good breakdown - Lashlee has hinted that Roc will probably start at runningback, but I think you're right about the tandem. By all accounts, JJ has been playing to his expectation. He had a bad day last week, and has been a vocal leader on and off the field. The AU press guys that have been at practice are getting pretty excited about him.

-QBs And WRs have taken a big leap.
-RBs are absolutely loaded
-TEs are getting better at catching
-OL is dominant

-DEs not as strong as past. Freshmen may have to play a lot.
-DTs much improved. Godchaux is unblockable.
-OLBs faster and meaner than ever
-Kendell Beckwith at MLB is elite
-Tre'Davious White is elite at CB
-CB2 spot has high level of competition
-Safeties are elite

-Kicker is unknown
-Punters should be about the same as last year

Yea ive read a couple of good things about Harris. I even picked him up in CF fantasy and may start him first week since its against a cup cake and my other QBs face stiffer competition.

No doubt. Best in years since early 2000s if recruiting hype becomes reality.

Yea he is getting some media love must be the real deal.

How is Trey Quinn coming along? Who do you guess will end up with more WR yards Dupre or Dural?

It was discovered that Quinn had bad eyesight so now he's wearing contacts and catching everything thrown at him. He should be a great slot receiver. Duran will get more yards than anyone I think. Dupre supposedly may not even start over Charknado.
