How big are the linemen in this scheme? How about the linebackers? Anybody know much about the scheme? I remember Auburn doing it under Wayne Hall. Figured I would have better luck posting it here. Seems to me to be very similar to a 3-4.

5-2 defense
A five man down front? That's a blast from the past .It's what we ran in high school in the early 80s. (I didn't read the article; I assume it's talking about a traditional 5-2).

It's not a 5 man front from the 80s. It's a variation of a 3-4.
See OP? This is the quality of the discussion you were going to get. Would you prefer to thank me now or later?

Seems strange that the defense has a 5-2 record. I thought that usually applied to the whole team.

Honest question:
How is this 5-2 scheme different from an Attacking 3-4?

five down lineman..two linebackers...two corners...two safeties

I'd expect Kiffen to throw early and get their secondary looking at each other. They aren't an elite passing defense anymore.

Did you read the article?

That is his mo anyways. Throw early, run late.

Same one gap principles, so any front 7 player can penetrate their gap.

AU actually ran a decent amount of this during the 09 iron bowl iirc. Had some okay success with it. That was a very different offense then what Bama runs now though.

Don't thank him. He is being a huge dickhead to you

Know this. It's an attacking defense that tends to give inexperienced QB's a bit of trouble.
