Problem is if you don't take sos into account, pretty worthless raw numbers

The first data set of numbers goes back to the 1800's. So it covers everything.

The second data point is all about what has taken place the last two decades. You will notice teams make the second list but not the first list and vice versa. In another 20 years some teams in the second data point are not going to be on that list.

That still doesn't cover SOS. But I'm looking over the lists and I don't think a single one on the all-time list, and only a few on the last 20 years list, could be said to have a significant SOS differential from the rest. You could argue VT on the all-time list, maybe, but the rest would have regularly played against some stiff competition for most of their histories. The 20 year list, as I said, has a few that could be dinged for it (and I was actually shocked Boise State wasn't on that list at all, since that's who I looked for immediately when thinking about the SOS) but the majority still hold up.

Everything you post either inadvertently points out that Bama is the best or you're straight up busting a nut over them

I'm surprised Bama's home winning percentage is so high. I always thought their home field advantage was weak compared to the likes of LSU, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Wisconsin, Miami at their peak in the Orange Bowl, etc.... Teams rarely seem to fear playing Bama on the road compared to the other teams that I listed.

The fans weren't as active and loud as they are now. Is say the atmosphere at BDS has improved drastically over the years. The only game I think that stood out as a really intimidating and electric atmosphere back then was the '94 game vs UGA. First game for me.

LSU to me though still has by far the best home field advantage. Penn State was really cool, but I left Death Valley with my ears ringing. Oklahoma's was kinda disappointing.

Maybe that is because, well, they dominate the conference. Take up your issues with their past coaches then.

Bear Bryant is why. He won 97% of his home games. Only lost two home games in his entire career at Alabama.

Does that stat take Ito account that many of Alabama's biggest games were played in Birmingham for a while ?

Also not surprised to see Florida up so high in that time period. Those were the Spurrier and Meyer years.
yea and if not for those 4 years of muschamp UF would probably be #1.

Is this all time? becasue if it is the stat for bama is not told fully in the number. for decades they played most of their big games (ie. the ones they had a chance to lose) at Legion Field in Birmingham.

This right here. Many of the times UT beat bama it was at Legion. Also, I'd like to know the number before their latest run. Say prior to 2008

For instance, 15 of Tennessee's wins over bama were at Legion. And we were their most consistent rival for decades.

You jealous bitches need to go to The College Football Data Warehouse and you'll see why Bama is #1.

On each team's home page there's a listing of each teams best 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years and 25 years. Bama just blows EVERYONE away. In each period Bama has double digit periods of being the best in the nation. If you want to see how your team compares, pay them a visit and compare.

Just an example, there was some clueless barner on here a few months back that proudly proclaimed auburn as having the best 10 year period from 2004-2013 in the SEC and I think he said the nation as well. Naturally it was pure BS. They were 3rd or 4th as I remember in just the SEC. Bama was #1 and I believe both Florida and LSU were ahead of aburn.

Check it out and see how your program stacks up with the big boys.
