Is a stupid phrase in my opinion. I was a Hog fan long before I attended and graduated from college. I graduated from a private college in Tn. And guess what??? I don't keep up with their teams. I keep up with the Hogs...... Before pro teams came to the South, college teams were all that we had...College athletics is still more popular than pro in the South..The Hogs are our "pro" team and a symbol of state pride from the Gator infested, moss draped swamps of south Arkansas to the Ozarks, to the Dirty Delta. You dont need an Arkansas degree or any degree to root for the Hogs. My .02.

I see no problem, as long as you aren't a bandwagon fan.
I didn't go to LSU, but I have been a fan since a kid. I sort of remember us being good, before the dark ages of the late 80's and early 90's. Granted, I didn't really follow sports closely till the 94 Arky game. Living in TN, I still went LSU, since I was from here.
As long as you support during the bad years, who cares.

Meh. If you pay your taxes, then why not? Arkansas is a public institution that uses your tax dollars, so knock yourself out.
Personally, I would rather support the actual school I attended, but that's just me.

It has a very different meaning in Arkansas than in some states. Our "T-shirt" fans in most cases have been hog fans longer than the average alum for other schools.
The problem is with non-alums in states like Alabama where they will claim to be an Auburn/Bama fan depending on who's doing better that year.

Is this really that much of a problem?

I have zero problem with 't-shirt fans'. My only problem comes when they talk trash to me about my school that I went to and graduated from in relation to "their" school. This is mostly applicable to known people and not randoms, though.

Agreed.
So, my family has had season tickets since 1958, and I've attended games since 1975, but I attended SLU. I've gone to a minimum of 4 home games every year I've lived in the state and attended games when I was on the west coast. I've been to Miss St, Tx A&M, Florida, Auburn and Tuscaloosa 3 times. Been to the Georgia dome three times......but some guy from Pakistan who attended LSU for a Med Degree is a bigger fan than I am because he attended and I didn't?
Dumbest arguement ever. He may be more financially invested in the insitution, but I'd argue that with the years we've had season tickets we're equally invested....but thats the atheletics side.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say here. You think Arkansas is the only school that has fans from birth? Or are people from Arkansas just old?

Like I mentioned yesterday, t shirt fans spend as much time training with athletes as the students and alumni. I don't see one as more relevant to athletic success than the other.

I believe we had this conversation a couple of months ago but the term was "sidewalk fans"

I left Arkansas when I was 8 years old, I am 37 now. I lived in Louisiana the entire remaining years and attended college here. I never stopped cheering for Arkansas though the only other Hog fan I saw regularly was my father. I've lived in Baton Rouge for 8 years now and I wear my Arkansas shirts proudly and wave a Razorback flag off my garage. If that makes me less of a fan then so be it.

Neither of those I don't think but many states have multiple larger universities that they can choose from to cheer for or pro teams. We have Fayetteville and most of us (well according to me anyway ) are born to parents of hog fans who were born to parents of hog fans etc.
We embrace and are happy for the other schools in the state too when they make a splash as UALR is doing this year in basketball. IOW, I don't know any hog fans who hate other teams in the state or consider them a rival. But being a hog fan is constant, year in year out pain and anguish and the occasional rainbow.

Do people call out all the Notre Dame fans who have never even stepped on the ND campus
