Which UA BOT Member shot down the hiring of Croom when Shula got the job ? Watching the SECN special on Croom, they hint at this individual, but never name him.

His interview was awful. Apparently he couldn't communicate his plan. But I wanted him over Shula at the time. Glad we didn't. He likely lasts longer and Alabama misses on Saban.

I have heard the interview BS as an excuse. He was well known by everyone, so the interview should have just been a formality.

A lot of real Bama fans wanted Croom. After the Fran fiasco and the Price shite show we needed someone like him to take the reigns. Some of us wrote letters to the university on his behalf, to which we got no return. He would have been more successful here than he was at state. The problem is if it didn't go well it would have been difficult for Bama to fire him.

You should be very glad you didn't get him, but I dont think he would have lasted as long as Shula at Bama.

Shula had a 10 win season at UA. That would have been a pipe dream for Sly

You could say this about any coach, ever.

The number of coaches that have 10 win seasons here says more about Bama than the coaches. Mike fricking Dubose had a 10 win season.

Croom was horrible and lazy. Many of his former players spoke of his practice camps where he would just sit around and take naps.

I thought Croom was alright until he played the race card and got Jesse Jackson involved. That changed my opinion of him.

I like Croom but not as a head coach. He would have never been hired as a HC anywhere, but his hiring by State helped get them out of the doghouse with the NCAA. State got more from Crooms hire than he did.

Why would they even bother to interview him if this powerful UA BOT member was just going to shoot it down? "They" don't hint at it, Croom hints at it

He had not been involved at the college level for 18 years. We made a horrible mistake but we had a plan (re: NCAA). Alabama had no need for such a plan.

Please tell us exactly how the Alabama coaching search from 12 years ago really went down. If anyone would know it would be you, little bro.

You do realize it's common practice for companies to interview a certain amount of candidates and a diverse list, right? It's more or less out of courtesy.

He probably just caught wind that he was going to get an interview, though it was pointless.
