Without health issues for himself or family, I would be surprised at doing this mid season, but it's his call not mine.
Just wondering if his old bitter arse told Tanner & SCe to frick off, he'll just go ahead & quit...

Sucks for the SEC to lose him. I hope he gets on ESPN, game day, or SEC Nation. And I miss the visor throwing. But hadn't seen it much these past few years.

Oh please don't let him get on ESPN. I really don't want to hear his smart remarks for the next few years. He thinks these comments are so funny, but would cry foul if these things were said about him. The only thing worse would be if he became an announcer. When Bill Curry did that, you couldn't even watch the game for him having to talk about his glory days and how he would have done something.
I can see Spurrier being the same way.

Losing to UK 2 years in a row would be far worse to his ego than a loss to LSU at home.

Sad that he had to go out like that. We'll always love him and wish him a happy retirement. Go Gators!

Can you imagine sumlin to USC and Spurrier to A and M ?

He'd make the perfect Lee Corso replacement.

actually, he said that it was trailing UCF at halftime that made him quit. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Selfishly, I was kinda hoping to see Derek Mason get a chance to beat him this weekend.
I really thought Vandy would win this game yesterday. Now, I don't think you will.

• clearly stepping aside as he knows he has given all he has to give to USCe.
• staying does more harm than good
• appears convinced that he is doing the right thing for the program, coaches and players.
• knows he lacks the energy/desire/enthusiasm to hit the recruiting trail hard enough to return the program to prominence.
• has no idea what is up next.

yea seems obvious now, from what he said, that if he didn't get the team going well again this season he would be calling it quits, and now just wants to let someone else take the reins and see if they can fix it. Doubt there was every any real intentions of forcing him out now, how could the SC people in the AD be delusional enough to think they could just automatically replace the OBC.

Hell yeah to this.
They should start by replacing Pollack with OBC effective immediately

OBC had made a number of remarks about retiring and had sort of waffled on the issue last year. Given it pretty obvious his heart isn't into it, the season has turned into a dumpster fire, Team Dabo lighting it up, and recruiting in doubt, I am assuming the admin. probably made the decision and then OBC decided to just go ahead and leave.

Great coach, always enjoy watching him on the sidelines and during his press conferences. Wish him all the best from an Ole Miss fan

hate to see him go - while i didn't like him when he was at Florida, i always respected him for the job he did. as others have said, it sucks he has gone out like this - but i thank him for the memories and wish him all the best.
