How improbable was this on Friday night after we were given up for dead after USA beat us.

LSU just swept us at DNF, and they are hotter than waffle iron.

We have no chance. We might as well take the bus back to Starkvegas and not even go to Red Stick.

Just kidding of course. What a great atmosphere it will be at ABS for this series.
I do hope it starts Saturday though.

Go Diamond Dawgs!!!

Congrats on the regionals win. I looked at the thread title that was stickied and thought USM had won.

USM jumped out to a 5-1 lead early last night and things looked bleak.
Caught a couple of breaks.
Rooker hit a sky fly ball down the RF line that fell just fair that scored 2 runs in the 8th inning to put us on top 7-6. RFielder was playing deep and the outfield was wet and he was unable to get to it. We then scored an insurance run in the 9th to win it 8-6.

Yes this will be fun.

USM absolutely blew it last night.

Bad coaching and bad fielding

Fielding hurt them for sure.

Why would you say bad coaching though? I thought Scott Berry managed the team fine. He had them in position to win but they did not make the plays.
At the crux of it, players have to make plays

There was a questionable call late in the game at first base that resulted in Scott Berry getting tossed.

Yes it was and had they called him safe, I am fine with it.
Can't believe the ump threw Berry out in a Regional final. Regular season, yes but in that situation, let the Coach rant for a moment and then move on.
1B umpire had a tough game. He blew a call on Mangum earlier in the game as well.
However, games are not decided by umpiring. They may get a call wrong here or there but generally those guys do a great job.

Teams like USM aren't used to the pressure of being the #1 seed and hosting. Sure there are advantages, but the pressure to win your own regional is only on the host. I thought it showed last night. USM is a fine team but they didn't play as loose as we've seen them all year

Agree there. USM had a great team this year. Won 50 games.
But last night after they got the lead, they played tentatively as if not to lose the game. Made some errors in the field that were costly and we were able to take advantage.

Don't know why teams keep bringing in Les Miles as a consultant.

Why would you hunt your top hitter?

That is one curious decision there.
Agree that he should have let him hit away. But overall, I think he managed the team fine.
