They are about the only school in the conference who understood their realistic expectations levels and made decisions based on that. They threw everything into Mullen and facilities even when he was "only" winning 6-7 games a year, understanding that it was an accomplishment based on their program and not expecting him to be Alabama or Oklahoma.
Because of that, Mullen has a solid, consistent program and State is as consistently good as any time in their history.

Yep, and at this point I believe Mullen is going to stay a while.
We have made and are making some fantastic facility improvements in every sport, in fact they are now on part with any in the nation even if not as large.
There were two options avalable, slowly build up or cheat our asses off, our decision seems to be working out. We know we are not Bama but are as we have very few tshirt fans that is ok, most alumni just want to enjoy the game and have a shot at winning, this has actually been a big help.

We are home to a BB triple crown winner, two sports teams who have played for national championships in the last 5 years, a football team that was ranked #1 in the college football play-offs in 2014 and a team now that is even better. All of this with the smallest athletic budget in the conference. The job the Dan Mullen and John Cohen and Cannizzaro and Schaefer have done is astounding. If we are a publically traded company our stock would be through the freaking roof. It's not random that all of these other athletic programs look at us and want to copy what we do. Mississippi State is what college athletics should be. And we do it all without being pretentious. We do it without building shite just to one-up someone else. We do it by giving full control of the programs to the coaches and telling boosters and others who want to try and influence the programs to stay out of it. We are one of the biggest bangs for the buck in college athletics.

Let me add - we are doing it mostly with Mississippi country boys - some of which were highly recruited (Lewis, Simmons) and some that we beat out Memphis and UL Monroe for (Williams).
Add in the occasional out of state disrespected player (Prescott, Fitzgerald) and its been a successful recipe for MSU.
We aren't ever going to be the flashy choice. But everyone doesn't necessarily desire that.

Yep. Clemson just hired our marketing director after hiring our football PR director three years ago.
Just like with coaches, We just replaced them with up and coming stars in their field that may move on if the right job comes along. It is what it is.

Williams was a 4 star RB. He had better offers than that.

My bad. Ive been told we have all 2 and 3 star players, I forgot that we did snag him as a local stud.
Offers were legit:
Florida State, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and Vanderbilt

Don't be obtuse. Sometimes you just get beat by a better team. Doesn't mean you suck. Just means we were better prepared.

I didn't say you weren't the better team. I just said that we suck dick. Our head coach is the worst HC in Ole Miss history and our starting QB was the third string QB at Purdue. I'm sorry but this MSU team is not as good as the Dak led 2014 squad

Umm, you're wrong. Dak carried that team and didn't have shite around him. This team is a more complete team. Defense is far and away better than 2014.

sort of...but UK plays in the soft eastern division, while SNITCH U competes in the west. that makes all the difference, as SNITCH U would have at least 4 eastern division championships during Mullens tenure.

Yeah thats true.
Kentucky has a great chance to win a eastern division championship this season. They are my pick.
