This Friday night in Fayetteville. Supposedly the two best in the SEC. Should be interesting!

should be a great matchup. whether they're the 2 best in the conference is certainly debatable but hopefully this thread doesnt turn in to that.

Stanek isn't even our best pitcher.
Eta: on the season, I should say. Trey Killian has been amazing.

I am a total idiot when it comes to baseball strategy, so don't berate me for this question because I know it's dumb.
But let's say you have team A and team B, and they both have lights out aces on Friday. Like could be the 2 best pitchers in the country. Would it not be beneficial for one team (let's just say team A) to throw their Sunday starter on Friday? This would in effect be conceding Friday to team B, however, team A will now have their Friday ace pitching on Saturday against Team B's #2 guy, and their usual Saturday guy throwing on Sunday against team B's #3 guy. I'm sure it's never good to just concede a game, but you could basically drastically improve your chances at taking the series that way.

Wahl had some control issues a week ago but threw well Friday. Mayers my be better than him though. Good luck Arky, your going to need it.

Stanek has been average thus far.
But it's still VERY early in the season.

A lot of smaller teams use this strategy against the big boys, but when it's a big match-up its too risky. You would give them a one game lead with no garuntee your other two guys get it done. Baseball has a lot of luck as well.

I haven't really kept up with other teams statistics. I started this thread solely off of the preseason hype both of these guys had.

Who's LSU throwing Friday against State?

If you win the first game, then you still have two chances to win one more. If you concede the Friday game then you have two must wins in a row.

Yeah that makes sense, and I guess if you're a good team your odds are probably not too bad on saturday/sunday anyway. It just seems like your odds at winning saturday and sunday would skyrocket doing that. But yeah, I realize that's stupid and if a big team tried it people would be like "wtf are you thinking"
