Dudy Noble Field, home to the top 13 on-campus attendances in college baseball, will now become home to the largest video board in college baseball in time for the upcoming 2017 season.

The project is the first step in Mississippi State's $55 million Dudy Noble Field/Polk-DeMent Stadium renovation that is set to begin once the 2017 home schedule, including potential postseason, is complete. This initial project also includes relocating utilities for the construction to follow which will allow the project to move more quickly following the 2017 season.

Measuring 43.2 feet tall and 60 feet wide, the new board will span a total of 2,592 square feet, which is 260 percent larger than the existing board. The current board at Dudy Noble is 20 feet tall and 36 feet wide, covering a total of 720 square feet.

Also, added bonus

Provided by Daktronics, the upgrade will give the Diamond Dawgs a digital space that is larger than that of three Major League Baseball clubs (Baltimore, Colorado and Tampa Bay).

LOL at investing in a niche sport.

Give the fans shiny things and they'll ignore the product on the field.

The greatest college baseball stadium wouldn't have trashy makeshift trailers in the outfield.

Do you really need a board that's 2X the current size?

It's a great place to watch a great sport. I look forward to the improvements.

quote:I don't know what the size should be but I was talking to a general contractor that was hoping to get this job. It's a Bulldog Club project, so really outside of the Dudy Noble project. I guess they decided they would do all that they could afford but the guy also told me that this is moving back from where the existing board is. So in that sense, I suppose it does need to be larger than the current. Some times you have to squint to see the current one in the day light if you are sitting near home or on the 3rd base side.

From every thing that I have seen & heard bout it, the new stadium should be awesome. Now if only Dawg fans can put some people in those great seats all during the season instead of just during the post season or a Black Bears' home series. But a gator fan mocking baseball? I can see being insecure as one of the best teams in the country plays its game in a glorified high school stadium but college baseball in the SEC is a great sport to watch, especially in all the great stadiums across the conference.

Y'all are dumb as shite spending that type of money on a non-revenue making sport
Your IPF for football which you share with baseball has plywood on the walls and youre gonna drop 55 million on baseball. I'm happy for ya
