Where is Urban Meyer on that list? He has two national championships compared to Spurrier's one.

Urban > Steve. Although most Gators are too butthurt to admit it. It is painful seeing him as a Buckeye, but he led the greatest run in Florida history.

John Marks is the man for the job. Crist should be the backup plan.

I've been involved with the search committee in a very limited fashion, but not so limited that I can't say with all certainty that we aren't hiring SOS.

That's all there is to it. No inside scoop, they just aren't looking for someone's whose main credential is football coach.

I'd give that award to Galen Hall. Or maybe Doug Dickey. Get some perspective.

I don't think anyone actually thinks there's a chance in hell of it happening.

Doug Dickey. I wasn't even alive for Dickey so that should tell you something there.

Brother, this is ironic. Spurrier built the UF program up from eternal absolute mediocrity and turned them into a powerhouse.

Florida was a founding member of the SEC and had never won a single SEC title before the 90s. Then Spurrier came in and won 6 in 10 years. And a National Title.

Florida was at about MSU's level (at best), for all of their existence. Now it is considered arguably the best job in America. That is 100% because of Spurrier.

Meyer is a very excellent coach and deserves all the credit for what he did, but don't compare it to Spurrier. He is probably the 2nd most influential and successful SEC coach of all time, after Paul Bryant.

Any Florida fan with the slightest bit of perspective and history should understand that Spurrier is the undisputed GOAT of the program.

Oh, there will be some group of dumbasses that will think it is possible because a list came out, and I also have noticed a great degree of overlap between this type of person and a large segment of posters on sports forums.

Personally, I think it is a more thankless job than being a football coach a lot of the time.

Spurrier is the GOAT.W/o SPurrier we would not have all those SEC titles and without all those SEC titles would not have a NC. Without that NC we would not have had the clout to have got Meyer from taking the ND job and without Meyer we get no 2 NC's and none of that is done w/o SOS.

Oh, bullshite. Mississippi State as a program is not even close to being as good as Florida before Spurrier. Florida won the SEC in '84 and should have won the national championship that year. They finished in the top 10 three consecutive years from 1983-1985 and held their own against teams like Florida State and Miami. It's a complete myth that Florida sucked before Spurrier got there.

I was talking about historically. Maybe MSU was a stretch

Still, Spurrier built that program from relative mediocrity into a powerhouse. That was the point.
