Nothing really confirmed and its nothing really groundbreaking but one way or the other Lattimore will be okay in the end.

quote:

"I talked to Marcus and I think he's still deliberating his options," said Spurrier, who also confirmed he plans to return as Gamecocks coach in 2015. "If he wants to come back and work for the University of South Carolina, certainly the president, athletic director or myself, whatever we can find job-wise for him here, we would certainly do that. I'm sure between the three of us, we'll find something for him to help out here with the athletic program, not only football but all athletes."

Lattimore has struggled to regain the form he exhibited as a freshman in 2010 and the first half of 2011 when he was possibly the SEC's top running back. However, he suffered torn ligaments in his knee at Mississippi State in 2011 and again the following season against Tennessee. He sat out the 2013 season after being drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. He started practicing recently, but the knee hasn't responded the way he hoped.

"His knee has not come around quite as well as he had hoped," Spurrier said. "He can run around and move, but playing running back, it really has to be 100 percent strong. He has put everything into it. He rehabbed for two years. It's disappointing. But he's in good health."

Former Gamecock safety DeVonte Holloman returned to USC recently as a grad assistant when his NFL career ended after one season with the Dallas Cowboys because of a major neck injury.

"I was talking with Marcus about DeVonte and at some point you accept you can't play anymore and move on to the next phase of life," Spurrier said.

Spurrier is gone after this season. I know a guy, who knows a guy that delievers the mail to the home of Spurriers distant cousins wifes, uncle ( This is 100% true ) He said "he didnt know if spurrier will stay or go," after I reminded him of why I was standing in his yard yelling in the first place.

Latti would make a hell of a RB coach and recruiter.

He would put passion and energy into any locker room and would really do well in the living room with parents.

If Spurrier doesn't give him a coaching job I hope Butch does!

Still upset that a Vol player had to be the one to end his career. Really respect ML.

Spurrier owes it to him after running the kid into the ground.

Just to remind folks, Lattimore still hasn't made his decision on whether to retire from the NFL or not.

It's likely, but not confirmed.

Panthers should sign him and then let him get an NFL TD on the last game of the year.

Because Carolina will not make the playoffs.

Because Cam Newton sucks

I can only hope this is a sarcastic troll and not a serious thought that is often echoed on the rant.

Oddly enough I feel it is echoed disproportionatley by 'Bama fans.

That injury was one of the most horrific I have ever seen. I was amazed that he was even drafted. Good to see USC will take care of him.

I take it as a troll because it is a dumb comment.

Yeah he is a well-spoken guy, a great talent, knows the program. I think he'd do well making good relationships with a recruit's parents and coaches.

I wish Georgia would bring him on in the football office. He'd be a great guy to have around, and that would really frick with Spurrier. Everyone wins

Marcus has to come back and finish earning his degree before we can hire him as a coach or representative of any kind. But that's doable. He was close anyway and he was pulling something like a 3.4 so he can do it and probably have everything paid for in the process.

Once he walks and mounts the sheepskin then we can hire him for any number of positions and places - and I hope he joins us soon, he is really a good kid.
