Their best win is against Clemson, who would be around 8-4 (maybe) in the SEC this year.
This is the dumbest argument people throw into scheduling discussions.
"If Toledo was in the SEC they'd go 1-7! Dur dur dur!"
You play the teams you schedule. Every team does it, most do it 2+ years in advance.
Clemson played two top SEC schools in back to back games and went 2-0 which they were expected to lose both games. It's all speculation, and quite frankly a waste of breath.

But...2012 Clemson was much better than 2013 Clemson. 2012 Clemson had Deandre Hopkins and Andre Ellington, and barely beat LSU, even with LSU's awful playcalling.
It is speculation, but if you look at how poorly Clemson has played against decent competition, they would probably be about the 6th or 7th best team in the SEC this year. They are decent, but not great. Their 2012 team was much better.

Did ball coach ever watch FSU?
Sure...tOSU and FSU didn't have great schedules...but FSU destroyed pretty much everyone by halftime.
Ohio State struggled against 5 bad B1G teams.
There's no comparison. Your schedule may suck - but then blow everyone out and prove you're legit. FSU did just that.
And who is South Carolina one to brag?
As for the rest of the SEC compared to the ACC or other conferences:

South Carolina lost to Tennessee.
Slice it however you want to, but the Vols lost 59-14 against Oregon.

Florida was relatively healthy when it sucked in a loss to Miami, and later sucked even more against Georgia Southern and against Florida State. Georgia was healthy when it lost at Clemson...and sort of sucked in the overtime win over Georgia Tech.
Arkansas sucked, gagging away a game against a miserable Rutgers team. Yeah, Auburn tagged Bama, but it almost lost at home to Washington State, needed a miracle to beat a depleted Georgia, and beat an overrated Texas A&M. Yippee.
Kentucky was a suckfest against Western Kentucky and Louisville, finishing the year with a win over the worst team in the FBS – Miami University – and another over Alabama … State.
LSU struggled to beat a sucky TCU, beat Auburn, and did a whole lot of nothing the rest of the way – if you buy my premise that Texas A&M was overrated.
Missouri sucked for a half against a truly sucky Indiana and is currently living off of wins over depleted Georgia and Florida teams and A&M.
Mississippi State lost to Oklahoma State and needed everything in the bag to get by Bowling Green.
Texas A&M sucked against Rice until Mr. Football was let out of the penalty box, but your season sucks if the biggest highlight came in a thrilling loss, even if it was against Alabama. Vanderbilt sucked against Wake Forest, and the rest of its non-conference slate was a pity party of suck.

Almost all of the games mentioned above were either the VERY FIRST game of the season or the second game of the season, yet the SEC still finished with a 10-7 record against BCS conferences.
The real gauge of the quality of a conference comes during bowl season, where the SEC has dominated
From 1998-2012:
SEC: 73-50
Pac 12: 41-45
Big 12: 57-63
ACC: 49-55
Big Ten: 47-59
Record in BCS Games:
SEC: 17-8
Pac 12: 13-7
Big 12: 9-11
ACC: 3-13
Big Ten: 12-14
Record in BCS National Championship Games:
SEC: 9-1* (LSU in 2011 the only loss)
Pac 12: 1-2
Big 12: 2-5
ACC: 1-2
Big Ten: 1-2
Basically, based on history as well as the current season, there is no real argument for an SEC team to be left out of the BCS National Championship Game.

Sure there is. Why should resumes matter now when it didn't in 2011?
Posted on 12/5/13 at 10:50 pm to Majin Buu
Alabama's resume in 2011, if that's what you're referring to, was that they had perhaps the best defense in the history of college football, and they played an SEC schedule that included 6 bowl teams, and an OOC win over Penn St who won 9 games that year.

sure if you don't think much of our top WR Malcolm Mitchell or our top safety being out with a suspension. Gurly went out for about a quarter as well.

Duke just went 10-2 in your league. Pretty sure that hasn't happened since spurrier coached in the acc you can stop now......

you say this as if they played both teams with only a week to prepare
There was a combined 8 months of prep leading up to each of these games, and they occurred in different seasons with different teams
that whole "back-to-back" crap isn't really a fair assessment

A team with 3 victories against top 20 competition- all of which could end up in BCS bowls

You lost to UT. That's like losing to Cal. Oregon treated UT and Cal the same. So did everyone else. You have to be really bad to lose to them.
End of story. And if you could lose to Tennessee - your other big wins aren't that great. Reveals those teams were overrated.

Oh god, a teamless troll telling us 3 wins over top 15 opponents is not impressive. Pray tell, who are your impressive wins against?

Clemson played an LSU team that was less than thrilled to be in the bowl it was in, after having (in their minds) a failure of a season where they failed to achieve their goals, with a month to prepare. And barely won...
Then faced a UGA team that had lost all of it's defense of the previous season to graduation or the NFL draft, when Clemson's strength is by far it's offense, on it's own field with an entire off-season to prepare for. And barely won...
A win is a win regardless however. Swinney was in tears after each game proclaiming his Tigers to be the greatest team in the history of mankind to whoever would listen and even to many who tried not to...
Swinney has led his National Championship Team Tigers to 9 wins over top-25 ranked opponents in his 6 years as head coach. Four of those 9 came in the 2011 ACC Conference-Championship season. That means that Clemson has averaged one single solitary victory over a ranked opponent per season for the other 5 seasons under Swinney. It's still an impressive feat for the Tigers, as they only typically play 2 ranked opponents each season in the stout ACC: USC and FSU, unless they luck out and actually play a ranked opponent in a bowl game, and then beat them. The ACC struggles to provide nationally ranked competition for some reason...
By Comparison Spurrier has led USC to 17 wins over top-25 ranked opponents in his 9 years at USC, including 10 wins over the past 4 seasons...
