Steve's been browsing the SECR I see.

He wasn't talking about Arkansas

UT bitch slapped the Old Ball Sack and so would Arkansas if they had played.

Trust me, he ain't talking about Arky but rather UT. He's said this about us before. We have always been his favorite target and he's sore as hell we've got 2 in a row on him.
Spurrier grew up here, wanted to be Vol but we were still running an old formation. Knowing how a lot of people in E. TN from his era are I just take it in stride -- if they pick on you a lot, they care. Even fathers do this. Weird, I know.

An Auburn fan turning a comment about Tennessee in to a comment about Arkansas. Shocking.

oh look, Spurrier being an arse again

Is Butch excited about it? Bert definitely isn't. His statements on it usually go something like "We ended with some momentum but we're still a 7-6 football team and Have to do a lot better."

Doubtful considering he's already made this comment once about us and the first barb of the CBJ era was when SC made the trip to Neyland and Spurrier jibed he'd coached at Neyland more times than many UT coaches.
It's just Steve being the Upper East Tennessean that he is. I'm sure one of the coaches (probably Majors since Spurrier reminds me of Johnny but maybe Phil) has explained that.
Believe it or not you can't shake a tree around here without finding plenty like Steve.

Being 0-2 against Butch eats his arse up and I find extreme joy in that.

And you can't spell CITRUS without UT. Of course now, the Citrus Bowl would be a positive for both programs.

He mentioned Arkansas in the interview too. Something like "They're doing cartwheels in Tennessee and Fayetville, Arkansas after that."

Ironically, that was one of the best bowl games of that Era. But, imho, Spurrier did most of that not only because he had a love-hate with the Vols (the love stemming from childhood) but because he knew damn well the teams needed to establish a rivalry.
Hell, he's admitted he's still a fan at heart.

You can change the title now, Cowboy

Well, he's right.

True statement is true.
Ark and Tenn are about to play for the SEC title, while lowly Carolina will be lucky to win 4 games.
We were 3, 14 point blown leads away from having 10 wins. Any defense coaching at all and we could have easily won 9 or 10. A loss is a loss but I don't think we are in as bad a shape as people want to think.
Tl;Dr-- Steve has a point.

He's going to be 0-3 against Butch after this year.
There's a decent chance Spurrier will never defeat the Big Orange again in his career.

The relative happiness of fans doesn't change the fact that Spurrier has the same record as 2 coaches in the middle of rebuilding after dumpster fire coaching situations.
I mean our current QB was coached by Petrino and John L. Smith. Why is he pointing out identical records? What's his excuse?

......
We were 3, 7 point losses and 1, 1 point loss away from being 11-2 but we aren't fricking claiming we were that good.
