Kevin Sumlin said Spurrier told him: "Didn't y'all have the same record as Auburn? You should tell them."

Spurrier dropping truth bombs. A&M also beat Auburn head to head last season. Weird.

Spurrier's quips were so much funnier when he was kicking everyone's arse at Florida. They are still funny, but it's more of a quirky sideshow funny now.

Just an indicator of how no one respects TAMU.

kinda reminds me of how everyone treats Abe Simpson. You just kind of half-smile and go "that's nice" then hope he'll go away back to the nursing home.

If Spurrier spent as much time and energy recruiting as he does thinking up zingers and one liners then south carolina would be a better football team.

I mean, to be fair he has taken USC to unprecedented heights. Would you have believed anyone if ten years ago they told you one day that program would win 11 games three years in a row?

That's true. I guess he has built a lot of equity there so their fans may not mind his constant trolling of others.

I don't get it. What is the context of this?

This has nothing to do with Auburn and everything about that both teams are projected differently despite having the same record the previous year.

Yep and both teams brought in top 10 DCs, both teams have perceived good QBs (Allen has beaten Auburn, WVU, and came within 7 of Mizzu and was very good statically). TAMU had Garrett, Auburn has Lawson. One team will try to incorporate more running, the other more passing.

IMO, this Auburn ranking 1 or 2 in the SEC West, winning the SEC, and a playoff team, then ranking TAMU 5th or 6th in the West more times than not, doesn't make sense. Seems like a shite ton of media bias and hype for one team.

I don't know the context, but I read it as Spurrier telling Sumlin to tell "them" (i.e. the media) that they had the same record as Auburn last year, i.e. why isn't TAMU getting the same pre-season love as Auburn is? Not tell Auburn that TAMU had the same record as Auburn last year (which doesn't make one little lick of sense).

I didn't see it as a shot at AU at all. And Malzahn and Spurrier are good friends.

You gotta rank them somewhere. Would you be more comfortable with it if it was alabama, auburn then A&M?*

*assuming you go through that pointless exercise and care about pre-season rankings compared to teams you're going to play.
