I kinda like this idea, but ultimately not. Even though regular spring games are full live (for the most part), it's still your team so you're not going to be looking to knock someone's block off coming over the middle. Despite just being a practice, you know if it was like UGa vs Clemson or something that spirits would be high and there might be some funny stuff. Also, it kinda sucks for one of the teams that they've been practicing all spring, then at the big finale they have to go on the road where none of their fans will get to watch.

Scrimmages against other schools would be an interesting idea. Just like Pre Season NFL or MLB, they won't mean anything, as in nobody cared that the Giants beat the Patriots in week 4 of the preseason last year.

I think some coaches might like it, some might not. Some coaches will hold their best players out of the game for fear of injury, some might restrict the players to a quarter or half.

They have a preseason in the NFL to find out who's going to make the final roster, or who could add value on a practice team or possible future contract. They already have their rosters set for college, so the scrimmages would be more about who can play already against college competition. They could sell tickets for interschool scrimmages, people will buy them, so there is money in the idea. However, I don't see a lot of great, all-out matchups, b/c I think most coaches are going to protect their players health in the spring. We'd see a lot of 2nd and 3rd stringers playing each other, IMO.

As far as the 7on7, who's going to coach them and how is that going to chance the NCAA rule restricting the contact or permissible hours of contact a coach can have with players in the offseason? 7on7 won't sell as many tickets either as actual scrimmages.

I don't really know what is broken with current spring football, so I don't think there really needs to be any changes. However, if they start having scrimmages b/w schools, I'd pay to go watch them still.

I am pretty sure the A&M dance team (females) performed at the Spring game and at Friday Night Lights. They have also been incorporated into pregame ceremonies.

Wouldn't mean anything record wise. But good lord the polls would use them HEAVY.

I don't like the idea. It's trying to change something just to grab more money. The hardcore fans already enjoy spring ball. Don't need to try and force a change that will hurt the sport just to get more fans attention.

Power 5 vs G5 would open up a whole new can of worms. Alabama pays Georgia Southern to play a spring game. Alabama then turns around and pays Jacksonville State ( who is playing Ole Miss in the Spring Game ) to take Chad Kelly out at all cost.
Seriously though, which coach would want to play a small school for a scrimmage. The small school would do anything to try and knock you off and you risk your players getting hurt over a meaningless game.
