Both teams always have a bye week before their game. Given how physical their annual slug-fest is, would it be better for the bye week to be after the game to allow players to recuperate?

I'd rather have the week to prep.

No Bama usually limps into the MSU game and takes care of business so I see no reason to change it. If Bama played a good SEC team the next week I would vote for the bye after the game.

Either that or keep scheduling MSU. Bama does in fact seem to have a little let down following the LSU game, but fortunately it hasn't truly hurt us against MSU (who has been the opponent every year since Saban arrived except for 2012 against A&M.

Alabama couldn't get away playing a let down game against Manziel and A&M that year. By the time Bama woke up and started playing, they were too far behind to catch up. Won a SEC championship and national championship anyway that year, so in the end it still worked out.

Makes sense, the following week we played Arkansas and I knew it was going to be ugly.

I'd rather the week after, tbh.
Bama has not looked well after, eg. Loss to aTm in '12.
But also, Bama doesn't always look so go after bye weeks, either.

It's a physically and mentally exhausting game every single year. Hard to bounce back and get the players minds focused on the rest of the season.

Both schools have this issue. I'd prefer MSU over Arky or Ole Miss as seems our norm. LSU has had a non conf opp after that game though

We've had an extra week to prep for Bama for quite a long time and we've only beaten them twice since 2008. Both of those wins were by only 3 points each. I'm thinking the extra week doesn't help.

Or maybe we would have 0 wins

Aggy wouldn't have their only "meaningful" victory of this millennium if the bye week was after the annual dogfight.

Like we don't already know what Bama is going to do. LSU plays Western Kentucky, a virtual bye, then gets a week off prior to Bama. After Bama, we play Arkansas at home, Ole Miss on the road, and A&M at home. frick that. I'd much rather have the bye after the Bama game before we play Ark, OM, and another virtual bye in A&M.

I, too, would rather have a week to prep. For LSU most years, beating Bama would go a long way towards keeping us in the driver's seat in the West, while losing to them guarantees we lose control of our destiny.

Our guys didn't regroup mentally after losing to Bama within the last minute last year, and Arky went into that game hungry. Had LSU held on against Bama, I think you would have seen a different LSU team play Arky.

I don't think it makes much difference.
