Vanderbilt women’s basketball coach Stephanie White said it was a “slap in the face” that President Donald Trump had not invited the South Carolina national title team to the White House.
South Carolina is the first women's basketball national championship team not to be invited to the White House since 1983, which caused frustration among SEC women's basketball coaches at SEC Basketball Media Days on Thursday.
quote:
“From someone who has had that experience and understanding what that experience means and for Dawn and their team, it’s kind of (a) slap in the face," White said.
quote:
"We enjoyed the White House," Warlick said. "I hope that if Dawn wants to go and take her team, I hope she gets that opportunity. It's a special time."
LSU coach Nikki Fargas went to the White House as a four-time national champion with the Tennessee Lady Vols – in 1991 as a player and in 1998, 2007 and 2008 as an assistant coach.
"They should be given the opportunity to (visit the White House)," Fargas said. "It's something that every team before them has been able to do. Why now? Change in leadership? I don't know."
quote:
“It bothers me for them,” White said. “I think when you’re inviting every other champion, it’s a slap in the face. It bothers me for them because they deserve that opportunity, if that opportunity is presented to everyone else."

This is odd.
Wonder why Trump won't invite them. I mean, it seems that this team does want to go, unlike other teams.
ETA: some Trumpkin downvoting any criticism I see.

Dunno. Good question.

I'm sure it was just an oversight.

Not sure why they weren't invited. Could have been just a mistake by the administration. To be honest, I didn't even know that women's basketball was playing their season.
It could be that the team really wants to go to the white house or could be that the team wants to be invited so they can decline and get that attention... You just never know these days.

Who is that dude wearing #22? And, why is Michael Obama in that photo (left side)?

They still should get the invite. No invite makes the White House look classless and gives femi-nazis ammo.
If they just want to decline, then you allow them the opportunity to look classless.

It probably sounded funny in your head, but it really just makes you look bad when you post it.

But Reagan, HW, Clinton, and W also invited.
And for not being big into sports, Trump sure does inject himself into the sports world a lot.

Guarantee you that Nikki Bitchass Haley would have made damn sure they were invited had they been the tater women.

Didn't Staley say something after they won about not being sure if they would go or not?

Maybe, but that really isn't the point.
A lot of teams have shared similar sentiments.

She said she's not sure if they would go now if invited.
They should still be invited, though. And you'd think with Nikki Haley as high up in Govt as she is, that she'd say something. But she made it clear even when she was still our Governor that she is all tater and nothing but tater. She's not going to do anything to help us.

Agree completely. Just saying there is a lot of information that we don't know.

Is Nikki a Clemson fan?

You could say that. She flew the tater flag above our Statehouse and sent a tater helmet to Stephen Colbert, another South Carolinian who is all tater.
