How does the Rant see this game going? How do Tennessee fans feel about the game?

I think this is a very important game (maybe the biggest of the season) for each team.
Carolina- needs a win to have a chance to finish the year in a somewhat respectable manner. I expect us to win out, finishing at 8-4. Not a great year given our expectations but not a terrible one either, every team has their dips. Beat UT and we can still finish at .500 in conference play (again, not great but still very important).
For Tennessee- winning this could lock up a bowl game appearance for the first time since 2010 (I think?) with an easier schedule after the game. Losing the game could send them in a tailspin fighting for a .500 season.

Carolina's D has been atrocious most of the season but with a really good offense, this team is still dangerous. Our fans will still show up to make sure it isn't easy for the Vols. Outside of the A&M game we've lost 3 games by a combined 15 points with 2 wins over ranked teams.

Tennessee fans, y'all seem optimistic after losing to Alabama by 14. I know this sounds trollish but why? Seriously, I wasn't able to watch the game but saw the score was 20-0 at the end of the 1st iirc. When Dobbs came in was he going against Bama's 2nd string D after they were up big? Either way, it doesn't really matter, he should be able to get the ball to y'all's talented skill players.

I see another shoot-out with us winning 34-28.

I predict a whole lot of derp. USC was playing some of the worst defense I've seen in a long time the other night. They were just waving at people. UT's defense isn't horrible, and Dobbs gave them a nice spark. I could see UT pulling one out.

Vols 21 Scar 45

And lol @ the Auburn fan claiming no cares. How quickly y'all forget how tight your assholes were clinched till the last play of the game not even a week ago bc you came close to losing to the worst team we have fielded in close to a decade.

Josh Dobbs. Seriously, he passed for nearly 200 yards and ran for 75 yds against Bama. Tennessee put more rushing yards on Bama's D (a top 5 D) than any team has all year. Despite our running game being terrible before Dobbs.

Dobbs also made our oline look like it was at least mediocre (it's not) and escaped about a zillion sacks.

Dobbs will torch SC's D imo.

SC is ranked 14th in the SEC in Total Defense
12th in the SEC in Pass Defense
14th in the SEC in Run Defense

Too close to call. I'll go with South Carolina at home, but they're defense has the potential to make anyone look great. Probably even Tennessee.

I wish the NCAA wasn't so bitchy about uniform rules - would be awesome to see Carolina in all black and Tennessee in all orange as a Halloween theme.

What tRant doesn't get is that we've waited all season for this portion of the schedule - we've been playing Top 10 teams every damn week.

Thanks for the response. It'll be interesting to see how he handles the road environment of Williams-Brice. Hopefully our D can get a little pressure and force him to make some poor decisions (though I doubt it, that's why this will be a shoot-out).

So true

Btw, I'm calling it now. Hurd is going to have that breakout game vs te Cocks. 150+ yards and 2 TDs

I expect it will be a close game in which both teams score in the 30s, but a game that USC ultimately wins.

Dobbs is obviously the wild card. If he plays as well as he did against Alabama, I think we have a decent shot. I have faith that he can be our guy going foward, but I'm not ready to bank on him playing consistently at the same level he did last Saturday. We saw last year that there's very clearly a good Dobbs and a bad Dobbs.
