Originally I thought South Carolina would win rather easily. The more I think about it the more the more I like UNC. Here are just a couple reasons why.

1) UNC has a returning QB

2) The game is in NC

3) Despite being a terrible HC Chizik is a good DC

What are y'alls opinion on the game?

Closer to USC's campus though.

Neutral site so I dont think this is an advantage at all. I think SS is pumped to redeem himself and I would not be surprised if USC puts a can of woop arse on UNC. UNC has been a dumpster fire for a few years now

Sure by a distance of like 5 miles.

There will be more USC fans there than UNC fans.

It's going to be an interesting game for sure. I believe most USC fans are cautiously optimistic, though even we don't know for sure what this year's team is going to look like on the field.

To your points, UNC's qb didn't light the world on fire last year and they were terrible, so not sure that's necessarily a good thing. As many have mentioned already, the location is not a disadvantage for us. If this were basketball it would be different. As far as Chizik being a good DC, would anyone in there right mind think he has the advantage trying to match wits with Steve Spurrier being the OC? They may win, but those three points won't be the reason.

Definitely some interesting matchups in this one. Both defenses underwhelmed last year (NC even more so than SC, so I believe the advantage goes to us here with the addition of some talented JUCO players). Offensively NC is returning 10 starters, turnovers and time of possession will be key with their fast-paced approach. I’m curious to see how Spurrier goes with the play calling. RB will be a strength of our offense but Mitch has a good opportunity here against a secondary that got torched often last season.

Yeah, but our o-line scares me.

Agreed, shifting Ulric Jones from DL to OL last minute was unexpected. First-team o-line has some good experience but beyond that it gets murkier for sure.

1. Spurrier has the got the fire back.
2. UNC and USC had same records last year but USC had some 4th quarter leads and UNC got blown out a lot.
3. UNC adds Chiz to d but USC adds Hoke.
4. USC will have more fans.

I like USC by a field goal.

lulz ... yeah, I remember just a few years ago when everyone was saying the same thing about NC State when we opened with them a couple of years in a row - they had this returning QB named Russell Wilson. We almost murdered him.

Charlotte is closer to Columbia than to the RTP. There will be far more Gamecock fans at this game that UNC fans. Charlotte is a transient southern city - it's not comprised of mostly UNC fans, not by a long shot.

FIFY. Commas are cool.

Anyways, I mean, it's not like Hoke is not a good DC as well evidently? Or Spurrier is not a good HBC? Or it's not like SC's staff is pretty solid top to bottom and have been working together, with the exception of Hoke, during SC's most prosperous period in our history winning what, 47, 48 games over the last five years ... as a staff, still together.

I mean it must be all about Chizik being at UNC ... because he used to be at AU so he must be really good huh?

lulz

That's my opinion on your reasoning. It's not my opinion on the game necessarily.

How the two defenses play is the great unknown. Both UNC and SC are dealing with new defensive coaches and schemes. Both defenses were awful last year.

I believe UNCs greatest advantage is QB. M. Williams, when he was not injured, was a beast last year and I fully expect him to have a great game.

USC's greatest advantage is Spurrier. Plus, few realize that he has a hatred of UNC going back to his Duke days. I always hate the thought of facing a motivated Spurrier.

You UNC fans crack me up.

Why would the HBC hate on a program he has owned? WTF are you talking about? The HBC has gone on record as never giving a fat baby's butt about the tarholios ... they/you are an afterthought.

UNC shouldn't have an athletics department. While I am on my soapbox neither should Miami.
