You do realize that UNC gave up an average of 497 yards/game last year, right?

SC scored 17 points on a defense that was ranked 117th in the country last year, NC giftwrapped that game for the Cocks, pump tBrakes.

You do realize that UNC average 33 points per game last year, with 99% of their offense returning.

Not a bad opening game...

I predicted 8-4 before the season, and I'll stick with that. obviously a few lucky bounces this way could mean 9 or even 10 wins

Yeah i dont care how many lucky bounces they get. They're not winning 10 games.

Spurrier works his voodoo magic against UGA and squeezes out a win, they win their home slate (Williams-Brice is a tough venue to play when you're the away team), and then they catch UT or Mizzou on a bad night and it could happen. Just sayin'.

I do realize that, and credit to Skai Moore for catching 2 passes that were thrown right to him. You still gave up 440 yards.

A win is a win, take it, but chill on the expectations.

7-5.

Lacking athletes on offense, average QB. Defense is leaky.

My expectations are 6-6 to 8-4, think that's pretty reasonable.

Did the UNC team that scored 33/game last year not throw the same passes?

Might as well play them anyways.

Honestly, I don't think they did, considering their QB was their leading rusher. Fedora even said that they weren't going to let him run the ball as much this year, and as a result, Williams looked uncomfortable the entire game. He's simply not a pocket passer.

South Carolina will beat their two other out of conference cupcakes, Vandy, and Kentucky. That's 5 wins, if they can beat one of Floirda/Tennessee/Missouri, they'll make a bowl game. I think highly enough of Spurrier to think that he finds a way to beat one of those three teams. But based off of last night, I thought SC looked like they may be one of the least talented teams in the SEC. Down with Kentucky and Vanderbilt. They need Pharoah Cooper to stay healthy, because if he goes down they are looking at 5 wins.

All fine, but I think we are more talented than you are giving us credit for.

Lewis was the top JUCO DL last year, everyone wanted him. He can obviously play. There are some athletes on this team. But going to take some good coaching/luck to get to 8-9 wins, yes.

Anything can happen, but I don't see you beating Kentucky. But then again I have Kentucky winning 9 games this year.

So they held the holes to below their last season's output for both yards and points?

And for all the folks writing off Connor Mitch after his very first game (on the road no doubt), here's how his first start compares to another Connor who started his career in the same stadium on the road... .

Shaw - 3/9 21yds 0 td 0 int Rush 7-26yds vs. ECU
Mitch - 9/22 122 yds 1 td 0 int. 10 rushes for 44 yds vs. UNC

Don't throw dirt on the gamecocks just yet...

(To if there is any real area of concern for the Gamecocks, it's not the QB, it's the receivers.)

2 more easy OOC wins, Clemson is a possible win in a rivalry game, Kentucky, Vandy, and Florida should be wins. Then an upset over LSU, aTm, UT or Mizzou has them looking at possibly being an 8 win team

SC will have to improve a lot to win beat Clemson this year. UNC was the worst defense in ACC last year and SC didn't score much and the QB had like a 39% completion rate and probably most of those were shorter passes. They probably would have lost without that 55 yard rushing TD.

It is kind of weird you are lumping Clemson in with Kentucky, Vandy, and Florida, but calling a win over Missouri, LSU, UT, all of which were really flawed teams last year. Mizzou lost to Indiana.

Good thing we have ten more games then. We almost lost Vandy a few years back but still beat Clemson. I'm certainly not predicting a win yet, but it's at home so it's not out of the question.

Mitch will get better. How good he will actually be, who knows.
